I have had my vr4 for a while now and is time to put some hp down on the road all i have is exhaust turbo back and front mount pushing 12lbs of boost on stock turbo. Compression is 160 across the board, what would be my next step to start boosting up. Also my ecu has an eprom chip from factory.

More boost, bigger injectors and a way to tune it. You have a chipped ECU already, so a 1g ECMLink chip, if you can find it, plus the software and the cord so you can tune. :thumb:

ok so i got 550 injectors a walbro 255 fuel pump a turbonetics manual b/c, i also ordered a FP black turbo and fp exhaust manifold. im installing the fuel pump today. The injectors i will wait until i get some kind of tuning system. i was hoping instead of ecm link just to send the ecu and have the eprom programmed to what i have in the car no one does that any more.

Just as an FYI, 550s paired with an FP black may not be the best combo. 550cc injectors can support roughly 32 lb/min of airflow at 80% IDC. The FP Black is a ~70 lb/min turbo. You'd be leaving a ton of airflow on the table and sacrificing a lot of spool and responsiveness.

Injector sizing

You wil need much larger injectors than 550cc for the FP Black. Depending on fuel you should consider 1650 or even 2150. Also the 255 pump may not be big enough. Have you set goals for your upgrade path so you can identify all the proper mods necessary to achieve your goals?

Nobody does it anymore because that kind of tune is just a "ballpark" tune, and ECMLink is both readily available and relatively inexpensive. The market dictates what stays available

I highly recommended that you decide on a horsepower goal and how you plan to use the car. Be realistic as to what you want to do. The worst thing you can do is start throwing mismatched parts at your car expecting big numbers and not blowing the car up. 550cc injectors with a fp black on a stock motor and improper supporting mods is a receipe for disaster. Before you start ordering parts do your homework on the mods you want, see what requirements are needed to run them. Remember your car is a dying breed, parts are getting harder to find and more expensive. Spend the extra time and money to preserve it and build it right.
