2G Oil Level Light Turns on randomly but oil level is fine

So I have a problem, When Im driving my oil level light randomly turns on then sometimes turns off at low rpm's. Also I have a oil leak but Im not sure where from,my oil level is also fine.

I have 1996 2g Eclipse N/A
 
It's not a level sensor, its a pressure sensor. Does your car have a oil pressure gauge in the cluster too?
If so, is that gauge reporting low pressure too? It's probably the sender like @Lou98GSX said, or a problem with the connector on the sender.

I don't think its oil pressure. The light looks like the oil looking thing and under it is water. My pressure gauge on my cluster works/reads fine

The second picture the light on the bottom left is the light that pops up.

I meant was the engine running, sorry. Do the lights turn off when the engine is running?

I had a look at my 1996 service manual, and on a non-turbo engine, the gauge and light are driven by the same sender (turbos have two different senders). If your gauge is fine, your sender is probably fine too. There's no mention of a level sensor.

Yeah the lights turn off after a couple seconds or when I decelerate.
 
It's normal for them to come on before you start the engine as a check to let the driver know that the bulbs still work. If your oil lights are coming on while the engine is running, then you have a problem somewhere.

According to the circuit diagrams in the 96 manual, the only thing in circuit with the oil pressure gauge, and the oil pressure light is the oil pressure switch on the back of the engine. You either actually have low pressure for some reason, the sender is bad, or a wiring problem.

Hows your charging system? The dash lights like to come on when the alternator/battery is going bad.

Yeah the light come on when the engine is running for a while. Honestly dont even know about the charging system, I recently got the car... I dont know honestly I also have a oil leak but im not sure from it is.

If so, you can check the charging system with the engine running, touch the negative and positive terminals of the battery and it should show somewhere between 13.9 and 14.5 volts. If you don't see voltage that high, touch one probe to the positive battery post, and one probe to the battery pole on the alternator--you should see less than 1volt. If you see less than 13.9 volts with the engine running, and you see less than 1v between battery positive and the battery pole on the alternator, you know your alternator is bad and your dash lights are from low voltage.

If your voltage is fine, you have an issue with your oil pressure sender, wiring, or you actually have low oil pressure.

4am? You're in Europe, not New Jersey? If so, you have an entirely different non-turbo engine than I was thinking, sorry. Let me know what your tests turn up though; the charging system tests apply regardless of engine.

Yeah my bad. I used to live in Jersey so I put that. The engine I have is 4g63 n/a if that helps
 
Ah, okay, that makes sense. My manuals don't cover the european spec non-turbo 4G63, but if its anything like the turbo motors, it'll have two different senders on the oil filter housing. The one on the front of the housing will be for the light on the dash. If your gauge reads normally, and the oil light is on, you likely have an issue with the sender or the wiring for that sender. Of course, assuming the charging system is fine.
 
The sensor that usually goes bad is the smaller one which is for the oil light sometimes called the idiot light . there should be a signal wire connected to it with a spade terminal end .
 
It is on the oil filter housing. There are normally 2 sensors there, the other looks like this and it is for the guage, if you have one.

Don't OVER tighten those sensors as you will put a hairline crack in the OFH where the threads are. I have one 1990 housing that is at the welders right now because of that. It was a extra unit I had and it is going on my sons motor, that is when we noticed it. It will leak if that happens. Just don't torque on it, and maybe even use a little Teflon sealant or tape so you don't have to over tighten it.
