so i decided to save another eclipse(gs) this past week, guy said it had a trans issue. I paid 300 for the car and drove it home 40 mins. the crazy part is it switches between gears fine...reverse to drive etc like butter. but it doesn't shift gears while driving. 4000 rpms or so and your doing 45 mph or so. I bought the car as a parts car for my rs but is it possibly not a bad trans and something stupid? no noises no clunking no shake nothing happens just wont shift.

It is in limp mode, you are in 3rd gear the entire time. There could be numerous issues causing it to be doing that. It would require a full teardown to figure out the problem if it is not sensors or valve body. Typically though, you are going to find an issue with valve body solenoids, pulse generators, shift selector mis-adjustment on the trans, or else something physically wrong internally.

appreciate it bro, def nervous now I just found a venom 400 control module in the engine bay... found a post on here about them...don't sound promising LOL

The solenoid packs/controller are known to go bad in those, they can be replaced externally with the removal of a few bolts, go grab one from a yard and see where it leads you.

That could actually be your problem. When I read the review everyone said "F'd up my truck! all it does is act like your overdrive thats all. it maxs your rpm instantly"

And also "Caused car to shift to a lower gear while driving down the road at a steady speed."

I also found an article about how those malfunction. It probably wouldn't give you much hp anyway, so just remove and see what happens.

well it suppose to have on/off switch (unmarked) but I tried both directions and no change. must be trans tho it jerks now when changing gear which it wasn't doing to begin with. fluid also has a oil color to it instead of the pink or red I expected to see. work a lot so haven't got to dive in yet. heard a grind also
