Anyone have some of the tan covers that go over the rear strut towers, or know where I can get them? All of the websites I have gone to send me a message right back saying that they are out of stock, understandably so since these cars are old. Picture attached of the pieces I’m talking about.

Performance Partout just brought in a 99 GST with a tan interior. Give them a call.. might have the panels for you.

Looking good, don't think you are going to get much done in the next week or so with all the snow and cold temps we are looking at. Never seen those bumper supports but I am definitely looking at them for both of my 2g's.

They are worth it in my opinion. The bumper sag under the lights irritates the hell out of me

Good to know, thanks for the tip! I'll have to give them a call!
EDIT: They had some and they are on the way!

Worth every penny, it really helps the overall look of the car, the details are what help a car stick out!

This is how the intake will sit in the engine bay, props it up nicely so it wont rub on anything and there is still plenty of clearance from the hood. I admit, hood clearance is less than I anticipated but there is still more than adequate space. Can't wait to really start cleaning the engine bay, its driving me nuts that has gotten this bad.. Luckily I will have a garage by the end of June so the car in general should stay much cleaner!

Injen Intake Final Position.

I have been playing around with different car related apps for a while now and after some searching I started using MotorCrush. It has some neat features so I built the Eclipse a profile. Not too much longer one of the owners messaged my wanting to do a small feature on the car, what a surprise! If anyone is interested, here is the link:
https://www.motorcrush.com/features/gst
Honestly it's a pretty cool app with some serious potential, not too many people use it yet and there are so many different apps that do similar things so the audience is spread out. MotorCrush ended up being the one I liked best.

Car is looking good. Gotta get it up and going if it would just warm up a bit! Been thinking about another DSM myself but want to get other projects buttoned up first.
The 2j or the house renovations? LOL I hope you have been well, was good seeing you a couple weeks ago. I hope the family is finally over their sicknesses! As far as getting another DSM you can always come work on mine if you want ;)

I am currently looking for ideas for a new "universal" coolant tank as well as mounting locations. What all have you guys had success with? I read a ton of articles on them on here and everyone has different opinions. The main issue I am having is finding a tank that allows the system to pull from the coolant in the reservoir and not just an overflow catcher.

Small update, I color matched the spark plug cover. It turned out well but it made me realize how badly the rest of the paint under the hood is.. Oh well, repaint in the future.

Also I noticed one of my intercooler mounting bolts was missing a bushing, so I went to remove it and the bolt just spun.. It was treaded too far into the rad support and was just spinning on the shoulder. I ended up cutting it off, drilled it out, and retapped the whole.. Oh what fun! But I would rather do it right than half assed. While the IC was off I decided to paint the logo onto it, subtle little touch. It looks low but I measured it to try and center it in the opening in the front bumper. Will upload more pics when I have the new bolt and everything reinstalled.

Drained the oil from the car, went to replace the drain plug with a new, non rounded one and bought the wrong size.. Back to Napa I go! Also installed The Bracketeer, a universal fire extinguisher mount. It is a great non-obtrusive and yet still easily accessible way to mount a fire extinguisher. The fire extinguisher is sold separately.. and will be here by the end of the week. An important note though, it does limit how far the seat can slide forward to allow passengers access to the back seats. For me this is not an issue since I have only used the rear seats once for friends.

Also finally got around to installing the final trim pieces in the rear hatch; what a PITA to do around a strut brace!!! But I got it, after a long time of struggling, and it looks good.

Exciting delivery today and a couple more expected soon!! New gaskets, studs, FP manifold and some Falken tires for the wheels I have coming. Man the manifold pairs beautifully with the T28, I can't wait to get it mocked up this weekend and transfer vacuum/coolant fittings. The Kiddie fire extinguisher also came, it fits under the passenger seat nicely.

Parts pile is building.. Everyone I talked to seemed happy with theirs and the price was right so I pulled the trigger. For cruising around town these should be perfect.

Taking the T28 to a local welding shop to see if they can help me adjust the intercooler pipe inlet, but we shall see.

Nice! Looks like you're having fun! A huge reason I went with the punishment racing FMIC was to keep the fog lights, I like that you got the blockoffs though, a lot of people just leave that open and it looks like complete dog sheeeeit.

I would have loved to keep the fogs but the car came with the FMIC already installed. For now, it'll work great. But who knows maybe in the future when I replace the intercooler I'ss go with one that will keep the fog lights. As for the fog light bezel filler piece, I had to have it. I personally agree with you and think the cars look so trashy if there aren't fog lights and have a set of holes in the bumper.

Installing the FP exhaust manifold was easy until I broke a stud.. Borrowed an extractor set and was able to get it out, wasn't fun though.

Went to mess with the driver side door handle to try and adjust it and discovered aftermarket speakers, that was a nice find. The door adjustment definitely helped, but I didn't have enough room to do the bolt in the mechanism mod so I am questioning how long it'll work.

My wheels finally came, they are all I hoped they'd be.

If anyone wants the info they are Dai Alloy Autobahns with a gloss black finish. They are 18x8+42. I mounted some Falken 225/40R18 and they fit the wheel perfect, virtually no stretch at all. After doing some research they should fit without any modifications to the vehicle, but that's before I lower it. We shall see on Friday, I am hoping to get them on the car by then.

Also replaced the shitshow of an oil feed line for the turbo with a stainless steel one. Instead of buying the correct line a previous owner just cut the old one in half and added rubber hose in the middle to extend it... Smart. I should be writing down everything that they have done stupidly, would make a great book. I'd title it "why some people should never touch a car."
Oh and installed some DDM Tuning HIDs, 5500K so the color is just right. White with just a hint of blue. Of course the camera didn't pick that up at all.

One year ago today I brought the car home... Boy what a whirlwind of a year it was! I want to do a bit of a recap of what all I have done to the car for the last year, might be a bit of a list..

4/22/18. Bought the car
4/26/18. Replaced rear wiper blade and oil dipstick.
4/30/18. Installed LED bulbs into factory foot wells, dome light, and trunk. Affixed loose fog light wires out of the way and protected from water. Drifter stitched the front bumper the best I could and washed it for the first time.
5/4/18. Coolant hose cracked causing the car to over heat and shut down. Got it towed to work where I replaced the hose and refilled the coolant. Car started right up.
5/12/18. Removed nightshade from taillights, detailed interior, trimmed Weathertech floor mats to fit better, painted windshield wiper arms satin black, installed carbon fiber bumper protector. Also discovered that the dome lights were causing a short and blowing the 10A fuse, removed the bulbs and replaced the fuse and the headunit, chime, and interior lights work again.
5/15/18. Installed new passenger front wheel hub assembly.
5/17/18. Installed LED Glow 7 color interior lights from my old Galant.
5/22/18. Replaced all brake pads, rotors, and tires. Also fixed the exhaust rattle by heat wrapping the piping where it was hitting the rear subframe.
5/31/18. Got the car aligned at work, steering wheel is now straight.
6/3/18. Tightened the e-brake cable, installed new center caps from China, and installed my LEDGlow underglow from my old Galant.
6/13/18. Did a headlight restoration at work.
6/15/18. Replaced torn shift boot with a used OEM one in very good condition. Also replaced the worn gear knob with a brand new OEM one.
6/17/18. Installed a carbon fiber front emblem, removed the nightshade on the side markers and replaced the burned out side marker bulb on the driver’s side. Also replaced the zip ties on the front bumper with metal brackets and rivets.
6/26/18. Replaced the side cover plug on the center console since it was missing, and laid the new trunk carpet down.
7/4/18. Installed carbon fiber fog light delete panels made by SpecialCarbonFiber.
7/6/18. Did a clutch fluid service at work with DOT 3 brake fluid.
7/21/18. Installed a Rockford Fosgate P300-12 powered sub. Ran the power, remote, and switch wire on the passenger side and the RCA cable on the driver side.
8/10/18. Painted the faded black window trim with black PlastiDip.
8/13/18. Replaced the Cobalt boost gauge with an AEM one.
9/5/18. Installed ACE windshield banner.
9/15/18. Painted the wiper cowl satin black and replaced all of the installation clips.
9/23/18. Installed a billet aluminum battery tie down since there wasn’t one and it was cheaper than OEM.
10/14/18. Driving to work and the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. Issue diagnosed as the pressure plate failed. Got the car towed home.
11/5/18. Painted the valve cover and installed a new valve cover gasket with the half moon gasket. Also upgraded the oil cap to a Mr. Gasket Co one.
12/3/18. Cleaned and painted the Injen intake, replaced worn rubber end caps, adjusted clamp positions, and installed a new Injen cone air filter.
12/30/18. Installed a Show-N-Go license plate frame and an OEM sparkplug cover.
1/14/19. Installed Boosted Performance front bumper support brackets.
3/22/19. Replaced intercooler bushings and painted “VRSF” on the intercooler. Color matched the spark plug cover. Replaced the battery in the car as well as the negative battery terminal. Replaced the oil drain plug and crush washer.
3/27/19. Installed The Bracketeer and a Kiddie fire extinguisher under thepassenger seat. Installed the rear interior strut trim pieces after cutting holes in them to allow the strut brace to still fit.
4/5/19. Installed an OEM exhaust manifold gasket, exhaust manifold studs, and a Forced Performance Racing exhaust manifold. Also Started cleaning the engine block/head of old oil/grossness build up.
4/12/19. Installed Dai Alloy Autobahn 18x8+42 rims with Falken 225/40R18 tires. Also replaced the lug nuts with black “tuner” style ones that came with the wheels. Not sure if they will stay or not, but they were free. Also installed a stainless steel oil feed line for the turbo from the oil filter. Replaced the headlight bulb plastic covers on the back of the low beams. Installed DDM Tuning 5500K 35W HIDs in the low beams as well.

Well that took longer than expected, but it was more fun than studying. Here's to many more headaches, bloody knuckles, and fun memories with the car.
I hope everyone had a fun Easter as well!

Big moves were made today!!

47708676412_85e9abc870_k.jpg

After 7 months and a plethora of new parts it is finally running! I got the intercooler piping re-routed much better than it was, and used a lot less sketchy pieces of piping clamped together. I could have had the car running last week but I was waiting for the 2" to 2.5" coupler to come in (you can see it missing in the picture). So far it ran well, couple more things to get sorted out though. Have a tow truck coming tomorrow morning to take it to have the transmission worked on. So close to driving it again, and boy am I itching to do so!

46986784894_0435e30126_k.jpg

Following the tow truck to the shop, a weird view of the car.

Got it back the same day, turns out there was a clutch line that had failed but you couldn't really tell unless you pressed the pedal in and watched it spew out. Needless to say I was so happy to drive it home with a lot more money still in my bank account that I was expecting. The T28 pulls hard and strong, way better than the OEM one. The car feels great. Gave it its first bath in 8 months, poor thing was so dirty..

Been driving the car for a while now, until I got a P0300, random misfire code. Also threw a P0403, P0443 and a P0505. The EGR has been "deleted" so that explains the first few codes, still trying to direct the P0505 and the misfire though. I cleaned the throttle body, which desperately needed done, as well as replaced the PCV valve and some old cracking vacuum lines.
Update: Eliminated the random misfire code by installing an ignition condenser. The cars come with one from factory but who knows where mine was.. Found one, installed it, no misfires since (knock on wood).
I also wanted to add and AFR gauge to the car, and move the boost gauge to somewhere easier to look at under boost. Installed a Glowshift cluster bezel and while I was at it I cleaned behind the gauge cluster lense and buffed some of the scratches out of it.
48030358953_3426d7d8e6_k.jpg

For those wanting to do the same thing, the Glowshift bezel is way more texture and glossy than the OEM one, but it matches the trim around the HVAC controls pretty well.
I bought a voltmeter too, mainly just to fill in the hole left by moving the boost gauge but I quite like having the volt meter by the headhunt.
48030320246_91dc4ab73a_k.jpg

Hoping to get the spark plugs replaced here soon as well, and if I am still having a random misfire then I'll move on to the wires and go from there, but I hope it was as simple as what I've done.
EDIT: My BRAKE light is on, all the time and I cannot seem to quite figure out why? The orientation of the E brake has no affect on the light at all, anyone else experience this? Can't seem to find a whole lot on this yet.
