This is where it needed up sitting flush with the main hoop mocked into place. Way too short for me.

Been talking with a fabricator buddy of mine and he’s going to use these as templates and make me some bars that will work. So in the mean time it was time for the dash to come out.

I’ve got a couple brackets to pull off so the bars will fit up snug to the dash bar. Once it’s time to start fitting the dash I. I think I’m going to drop the steering column to make life easier.

So while I was at shootout 2017 the tech made mention that my fpr wasn’t in a good position. So after reading up On the rules I found it was best to move it over about 1.5”

Next thing I need to move is going to be the nitrous solenoids.

so i havent had much of an update since the last three local chassis fabricators ive contacted to get a new set of a pillar bars made up have not had any reply once i asked a price LOL:ohdamn: so i have been searching around for alternative options to find a solution. i think i may have found an option through rhodes race cars to help me out.

going to measure the car up this weekend to make sure these are going to work for me and get it ordered so this cage can get finished. also found another dash for the car that is in much better shape as well to put back in.

so a small update:

so i FINALLY found a local cage builder that is going to get the a pillar bars bent up correctly for me. hes making me a hell of a deal imo. i just have to get the tube which i can order through work. im probably going to get that ordered today so i can get it to him and get this thing finished up.

Small update.

Picked up some more tubing to re do my a pillar bars on my cage. Now got to get it over to get it all bent up so we can finally get the cage in the car.

ok so the plan is to drop all the tubing stuff off sunday to get it all bent up then hopefully we can start getting the cage in the car. im going to start getting measurments as well and go ahead and add the parachute mount while we are doing the cage. i figured this way we can do it once and be done with it.

small update:

picked up some more pieces needed for this cage install.
chutestuff.jpeg

chute pack mount and chute anchor mount from rhodes race cars. picking up the last of the extra tubing needed this week i think so we can get started as long as my welder buddy doesnt get shipped off for work again.. :banghead:

so im looking into shops to put my cage in. my welder buddy has been super busy at work with no signs of it letting up so im going to find a shop that can put it in for me.

You might have better luck calling. I've never had them email me back before.
i might give the a call in the morning. ive gotten a quote from eric jarvis from mad scientist auto and seems fair. not to far of a drive either.
Dan is the man but super busy this time of year.
ive gotten that alot from local places LOL. i did find one place in kentucky thats going to squeeze me in.

Awesome build man. Do you do anything special with your wheel alignment?
not yet thats the one thing it needs is a good alignment. we did the string method and eye balled everything to get it going but a good alignment is coming soon. i want to see how far the car squats to adjust rear camber accordingly

so ive got a local cage builder that the car is going to here in a couple weeks. in the mean time i have gotten the last (i think) of the tubing needed to get this cage finished up.

chutetubing.jpeg

this is the last i needed to do the chute mount stuff.

another small parts update:

picked up the parachute release kit from work so that can get welded in.

now im just playing the waiting game to be be able to get it into the shop to get it all put in. hoping it doesnt take too long as im hoping to have this all ready before shootout with the cage done and the car put on high boost to try to see how close to the 9s i can get this car.

If I may ask, how much fuel pressure is running out the back of the AFPR to, I assume, the gas solenoid? I see the extra line, like I was going to do, just worried about pressure fluxuations at the nozzle and don't ever want to go lean.
Car is looking great and I bet you can't wait to get that 1st 9 slip!!!!
Thanks!

ive never checked it at the line but it that port should still be getting the same pressures as the engine sees. tbh i havent worried much about the nitrous stuff on the car because it really hasnt needed it. the car gets on the converter without it (takes about 6-7 seconds depending on trans temp). weve done one test to make sure it worked and i tried using it once the last year at thootout and had the power wire come loose so never used it since the test. its only there to get the car on the 2step quickly. it doesnt get sprayed down track. im beyond ready for that slip LOL. right now im patiently waiting to get the car into the shop to get the cage put in so im safe. then once i get it home ive got to do all the yearly maintenance (oil change, injector cleaning, ect.) then its going to get re tuned on high boost.

I am watching and waiting!!!!
Thanks for the reply.
I have 3 NO2 kits just collecting dust and have used it before on my other hobby cars, but never to get up on the converter, just to get down the track so it will be testing to see what happens. IDK if you "bump" it or lay on it to get on the converter but I know I am needing to find a dual piston front brake setup now that the time is getting closer. I still have a couple months probably though.
Thanks again!

when we tested the kit on my car we just bumped the button, on my tuners old auto car he pressed the button until it blipped the 2step and let off. dual pistons and a hawk brake pad is what im using on the front of mine and its holding the car @ 4100rpm building about 15psi on the 2step.
