I bought 2 mishimoto slim fans and hooked one of them up(the cooling fan) and everyone time it turns on it blows the 30amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box. I’ve turned the fans on, on dsmlink and by letting the car idle till they kicked on, it blew the fuse both times I only Hooked the passenger side fan up only not the right side fan. What am I doing wrong?

My dad and I also hooked alligator clips to the battery and tried to make the fan kick on and it made the connector off the fan smoke and it didn’t turn on.

Plugged the old fan back in and it runs fine so it’s defiantly a fan issue. Do these mishimoto fans pull more than 30 amps ?? Or did I get messed up fans ?

If you got these fans from Mishimoto all wired up "plug and play" then that may be your issue. They come wired wrong and will pop the fuse the moment they kick on. The wires are all black in color so you have to test them to figure out whats what, then cut and splice how they should be. I had this exact issue back when I tried these.

If you got them just wires, no plugs, then it sounds like it still might be wired wrong. Carefully, hook one at a time up to a jump box/batt or any 12v power supply to test and see what they do. Hopefully theyre okay, returns are such a hassle.

Does the other fan do the same thing if wires the same? If so your wiring is reversed
If not...
You have a bad fan!

Update: I’m returning them and buying another brand of slim fans, maybe CX racing im not sure yet

I'm having the same issue once I hooked up my mishimoto kit. I've since de pinned the connectors and moved the pins to what should be the correct location and still blowing fuses. Busting out the tester to what's what and get it sorted...

Are they the dual slim fans? If so I have the same kit, they are "plug and play" as in they have compatible connector ends but if I remember correctly, the fans pull 25a each, the stock fan relay and fuse wasnt enough I wired mine to separate 30a relays and a bigger inline fuse as well. You could also get like a 60 amp relay but i didnt have one

The dual shrouded fans work great for me and have a nice look to them I highly suggest finding a write up or thread on here for them, I wish I knew which one I used, because electrical stuff is definitely one of my weak points so I'm certain i got the info on here somewhere on how to wire them correctly

Just to add. Had to test everything because my car wiring and the fan wiring was not doing what the wire color said it should do via the manual.

Got it sorted. Ground was getting powered and power was getting grounded.

The only fans I run are SPAL as they actually move the air that they state and are a nice unit. Others "claim" to move x amount of air but don't.
