Hey everyone. so i got a 1996 Eagle Talon TSI as my project to turn into my drag car while still keeping it street legal for nice mountain Drives. It has a blown tranny but comes with a 1g freshly built. im hopefully going to trade for a working used 2g transmission to swap with.. probably shouldn't of grabbed this one for my first car to learn on but im just trying to figure out a good starting point. Thought is doing ac delete, egr, wire tucking, until I get a 2g trans and some help to get her running. I have absolutely no clue what im doing, but im excited and live in Colorado. If you like beer and pizza and wanna help teach a guy who's new to the car community how to get on the ground running give me a holler!

I would forget about any repair that doesn't have to do with getting the car running. Fix the car first then worry about mods, wire tucking, anything else, etc.

Agreed. Do all of the maintenance/repairs to get the car properly running first. Then make a plan with your goal in mind.
I recommend getting a dry-erase board or the like to make a list of things to do. Helps keep you on track and from getting discouraged, as well as a good way to prioritize your future mods.

Perfect. I was just wondering cause I got my first car to work on when I was 15.;)
yeah unfortunately I never had anyone to teach me. so im at the stage of screw it and just bought something in hopes that ill get a buddy to show me the ropes xD

No one really taught me either, but I was fortunate enough to have tools at my house and a brain willing to learn.
