I have a 2 step installed on my 1998 GST and when I watch youtube videos the 2 step launch is usually followed by gun shot noises/pops and fire occasionally. I'm just getting the rev bouncing at 5-5500 Rpms but no gun shot sounds or fire balls. Kind of sad about this. Is it because the car is not fast or tuned correctly to shoot fire? I was hoping for some fireworks.Has hx 35 cams straight pipe.

Go to the nearest fireworks store and purchase a brick of firecrackers (I recommend Black Cat brand) and they are much cheaper by the brick if you can swing the extra cash...

On a more serious note (if you are actually serious and not trolling), making fireballs is not what owning these cars is about, you can cause serious damage to your turbo and engine by doing that, guys that are racing are not doing the fireball and pop thing on purpose, it just happens from the super-heated fuel in the exhaust system and altered ignition timing that they happen to require to get their car to launch properly, true that their are idiots that live to make annoying noise and fireballs and will never step foot on any type of track, dont be one of those, doing that just furthers the "ricer" stereotype and makes the law enforcement and public hate import cars even more, we are just starting to live down the Honda ricer stereotype as it is, lets not set things back.

As mentioned before, you are going to end up tearing up components if you are looking to shoot "fire" and be on anti-lag. Professional race teams often have to replace/rebuild the turbos after each event due to the stresses it can put on everything. If there is no absolute need to anti-lag or two-step, it is better to just stay away from it.

I was messing around LOL but I was curious with the launch thing. thank you for the info :)

The "anti-lag" feature, if you look at it in Link, advances the timing to 10* AFTER top dead center and enriches the fuel delivery, having the combustion partially happening in the turbo hot side while the exhaust valves are open. If you have no use for it, don't use it, it is hard on the turbo and motor.

If it makes the car go faster off first gear I'd like it. I've been practicing my launching and building up turbo and it's not going great for me so far. I think this car is tuned on e85 and that's why it feels like it only has 250-300 HP. should feel fast with the hx 35 and cams/straight exhaust. My C300 awd feels faster and that only has 240-250 hp

Your timing maps likely need work then, it sounds like its not taking full advantage of the E85, also the E85 doesnt pop and bang and shoot fire like gasoline does in any event, it has a higher threshold for spontaneous combustion which is the actual benefit of using it.

If you profile is correct and you are FWD, I would imagine you are going to have lots of traction issues with trying to put down a lot of power in first gear unless you have some serious suspension, tires, and an LSD. Just something else to think about.

Thats hilarious... in his defense though, it IS a popular thing these days for whatever reason, it definitely gets my attention.

hahahah... this is funny thanks for the picture. On a side note I finally found what's under the hood of this beast

Thanks for playing along with us Jeff. We just don't want you to hurt your car. The anti-lag feature will make the car build boost at a dead stop, so the car will "launch" hard and in boost, but as was said, being FWD its gonna spin and you might end up trashing a dif or axles if you dont know how to use it. I personally drag race for fun and I have a nice open field that lets me "play" and practice launches without hurting anything since my AWD just slings grass and dirt. If you play, you might think of a nice "soft" place to practice. :thumb:

This, I actually LOL'd.
I think rally-cross and most of the past 10 years of car culture in general has propagated this desire for most newer car enthusiasts. I'll admit, I'll go gawk a bit at a car if it's ALS or 2-stepping at a car meet, but if it's more than 8-10 seconds, I start shaking my head...

Marty, as always, speaks the good truth.

Yeah the car will be short lived anyways, it was overheating every now and then pushing coolant out of the car and bubbling, had to do some digging and its a blown head gasket LOL. Looking to sell her or find a mechanic near Rochester ny. I don't think I can repair the head gasket myself unless someone was next to me showing me.

I want to, just not sure who to go with, currently not in the car scene at all. Also hoping for a warranty on the service. How much it will cost. If I should buy the parts myself etc. I have a 2 car garage with LED lighting too.

All of us had to start at one time.
O.p. if you have basic hand tools a torque wrench, a mitsu timing tool, a Haynes or chimton manual, and desire to learn, you can accomplish anything.

Save yourself almost a thousand dollars and gain the experience for next time.

Like anything, it is a simple process, it has many steps to the procedure, but is definitely doable.

You are in a prime area for DSM help. STM Tuned is in Spencerport. If I was in your shoes, that would be my first stop.
