Yo!

So I've been looking to carbon hatches or an OEM one. Mine has some rust underneath and I can't stand it. BUT I knew I would be doing this and having a new one repainted so I bought an extra GSX decal a long time ago to use after I got a paint job.

Well I don't want to use the OEM one I have in original packaging, so I decided to have some reps made the RIGHT way.

Everything else currently available is not perfect, and mostly they are individually die-cut letters out of colored vinyl.

This is grey metallic printed on clear with the correct border to match OEM perfectly.

These are also UV resistant and will not yellow like other replica decals available.

I have two brand new "MITSUBISHI" trunk decals and I will be remaking those as well. When I get my new trunk I will use the replica decals and keep the OEM ones un-touched.

Peace!

I saw the GSX decals in the classifieds, they look great! Any idea on a timeline for the Mitsubishi reps? I'm interested in picking one up for my Spyder :D

Absolutely! I have two NOS (new old stock) mitsubishi decals being sent to my house to get the replica made. I found two dealers that just miraculously found one sitting on the back shelf. Keep an eye out for the posting and I will probably mention it in my thread here as well. Thanks for looking!

I wanna do the same to mine boss. Who do I need to talk to about doing this. Seriously no bullshit. Got most new parts already just need a mechanic.

Sup.

I got the eclipse out this weekend to a local cars and coffee! Had a bunch of fun.

My friend Andrew lives here so I like to meet up with him since he has a beautiful white 99 GSX as well.

I'm glad I actually got the car out with the Volks on it, I love the way they look and fit, very period correct IMO.

So that was a ton of fun, people seemed to like the Volks.

I also got my second batch of updated replica GSX decals in, they are great!

I put one on my jeep for closeup pictures.

Here is a comparison between OEM (right) and replica (left). The replica is a little lighter and a little more metallic, but I think its great and not worth getting another batch made.

I will also be replicating the "Mitsubishi" decal on the trunk. I received (2) NOS (new-old-stock) decals from some dealerships I spent hours trying to find. I should have replicas made this week.

Yo.

So I sold my TE37's, just wasn't feeling them. I still have my 5Zigens so those will be on most likely for the summer.

I picked up a new S90 70mm from extremepsi if this leaks I'm not going to attempt to fix it, just going to swap it out through their customer service.

I also picked up;

-A new TPS sensor, I think mine was pretty wonky.
-2 new 4 bar MAP sensors from OMNI power, i like to have a spare.
-Random gaskets and o rings for the timing belt side
-Blue Gates timing belt

I'm going to do a timing job and neeeeed to track down this new leak. I'm thinking cam shaft seals.

I also spent way too much time triming the front bumper around the FMIC core. I want my bumper to fit mint and also utilize the oem brackets and all bolt holes so it fits great and doesnt sag. I'd like to keep my OEM bumper in as best shape as I can because they are hard to find.

I still have some trimming to do, you can see that the bumper is sunk in a 1/4 inch or so under the fender, this is because the FMIC core is pushing the bumper and in return the bumper is flexing inward. I do have the OEM brackets on the fender-bumper connection. I bought them brand new a couple years ago, not sure if they still make them.

I also got my rep Mitsubishi Decals made, they look great!

And I swapped out my polished TiAL for a red one, looks much better!

So I wanted to tackle some oil leaks and do a timing job with a new Gates belt.

I found out the cam seals were kinda leaky so I replaced those with some OEM seals I had laying around. Also re-RTV'd some bolts, torqued some to spec as I found some were more loose than I would like.

I also trimmed the bumper a bit more and installed my OEM fender-bumper brackets, love how the bumper its now, no sag!

Cleaned up the bay a bit. Installed a new TPS and front O2 sensor, runs much better. I am installing (again) a new s90 TB, i have a wicked idle surge which I can only imagine is from the monster leak at the TB.

I noticed I still have oil leaks, one I found out was from my turbo oil-feed touching the manifold bolt, burning a hole through it and dripping on the WG dump/Intercooler piping/ oil filter housing. So that will be addressed this week to see if I have any other leaks. Its hard to tell with oil blowing in the wind etc etc.

I then went to address a rattling in the exhaust area, found out this stupid hanger broke off....

I'll have a shop weld that back up.

I also got my 5Zigen wheels back on. I sold the TE37 for a $500 profit. I love the fitment of these wheels, just need to restore them. They are pretty messed up.

I love how these fit! No rubbing whatsoever. Kind of want to add a little camber to the front, but need some upper arms or something to do that.

I Also got my fog lights working again. It seems the ground from the switch to the relay has been cut. I just added a new chassis ground to the relay so the switch doesn't work and fogs come on with headlights. I'll address this when the harness is out next time!

Peace!

What group?

And its just an OE replacement. I didn't feel like going OEM, can't justify the price on some things. Seems great quality!

So I installed a new S90 yesterday, it is FAR better than the previous 2 S90's, but it still leaks at 800RPM or so. It sucks, I just wish they worked and sealed correctly. I"m going to leave it, its extremely minimal.

I also am SUPER excited about a new hood I picked up. I pour over the local junkyards waiting for white 2G's to come in and one finally came in that looked in great shape.

I picked up the hood, I may pick up the front fenders as well. Mine being a midwest car, I definately have my rust probems but I'm slowly taking care of it.

Here is my current hood, the hatch is the same way.

32589154927_42fe17e854_o.jpg

Its starting to bubble up to the top. I knew it needed to be addressed but really didn't want to mess with painting the underneath of the hood structure and around the decals etc.

Here is the new one! Cars in Colorado are crazy clean with zero rust because of how dry it is here.

The top unfortunately had a clear bra half way up and it completely melted the paint underneath from being in the sun for its whole life I assume.

Now to get a new hatch!

Peace

Is the leak on the S90 a common problem? I was actually going to buy one soon.

It's pretty common, they don't have a seal on the TPS side iirc, at least on the 74mm. @amsrn13 is working with his machinist to come up with a solution for them, mine is the prototype.

Nice, extremely clean car @bettfootball ! Don't see many white ones that clean :thumb:

Is the leak on the S90 a common problem? I was actually going to buy one soon.

Oh absolutely. This is my third one. I did go down to the 70mm as the 74mm seemed made even worse. Its soooo annoying. Especially since when you take it apart, its almost guaranteed to leak worse after doing that. So no repair etc

So I did like 12 hours worth of work on the eclipse this weekend.

First off I wanted to seal up the lower middle manifold stud into the head because I had a leak from somewhere under the manifold.

So I took all the studs out, cleaned and dried everything, then used "the right stuff" in all the studs, let them dry for 2 hours and re-installed. I also got one new stud because my ARP one was messed up and wouldn't allow a proper torque on the manifold nut.

Then I had to make a new gasket for my turbo oil drain line because that was leaking as well.

I put everything back together and it is definitely much much better. No leaks visible or drips after 30 minutes of driving. But then I got home and saw a tiny tiny leak with a drip, and oil on top of the water pump....

Not sure what i'm going to do about that. I've tried everything LOL.

In other news, my CAS was still leaking after a new O-ring and RTV. So then I noticed it was coming from actually inside the CAS. I took it apart and the black o ring was rock solid and just turned to dust when I took it out. So I put RTV around the edge of the CAS and the CAS cap. Haven't gotten it back together yet though, but I'm sure this will stop the little leak I had over there.

I'll have to check when I get home but there is a shaft seal inside the CAS that I'm willing to bet is toast on yours. While it may not leak out of the cap since you re-sealed it, it's going to fill up with oil eventually and may cause issues. I'll find the stock seal and get you the number, it's not hard to disassemble the CAS and replace it, just a little tedious, but it will stop leaking!

Yes I am also going to see about the seal on the inside, good idea. Let me know if you find the stock number! I may use a parts store o-ring for now if I find one similar.

Thanks!

This is the shaft seal, standard lip seal not an o-ring.

This is the bearing.
IMG_20190409_145759.jpg

And this is how they sit together.
IMG_20190409_150906.jpg

These parts should work for both green top (optical) and black top (hall) CAS's. Once you take the notch bar out (knock roll pin out) you must take the trigger disc screw and hardware off, then undo the 3 screws for the optical pickup board, and lift them out together as to not damage/bend the disc or break the optical pickup. After the disc is out (make note of it's orientation with a sharpie or paint marker, as well as other parts) you can lift the other pieces out in order. There is a bearing retainer plate with two screws under the optical pickup, once removed you can lift the shaft and bearing out easily.
You will have to use a screwdrover or the like to knock the seal out from the bottom side just as you would a rear or front main seal.

Be careful not to score the bores or bash up the housing, and be VERY CAREFUL with the optical pickup and trigger disc, they are fragile and easy to bend/break, rendering them useless.

Also make sure to use a tight fitting screwdriver for the hardware, it strips easy and is slightly difficult to get to in some spots.

Once you're done just put it back together and it should be completely leak free. May have to polish the shaft slightly to improve the seal, but that's subjective.

The seal measurements are:
24mm OD
14mm ID
6mm thick
HERE is a seal with the proper dimensions, should be able to cross reference it if needed/wanted.

So I've been pretty busy, but finally closed and moved into the new house!

I got the eclipse moved in and am super excited to organize the garage and paint, do the floors etc and get some work bench setup with better lighting.

Its the one in the middle on the end. Its a townhome, so garage/bedroom on first floor with entry. Main living/kitchen/dining/powder room on second. Two bedrooms/two bath/laundry on third floor.

Unfortunately I still have to park my daily outdoors, but I have enough room where I can park here and its not a big deal. Would like to get a lift in the garage though.

I did finally get out and get some pictures with my friend Andrew (@nocrustgsx on IG). His car is a twin to mine, 99, black leather, and stupid stupid clean. Up close mine looks like a dumpster next to his, paint is immaculate. Andrew puts his DSM through the paces though, where I do not hahaha. Anyway here are some pics. They came out awesome.
