I have a question , to get the signal for the tach from where are you getting your signal from.?? I'm asking because I had one but it was a JDM from ebay and it just to work fine but for whatever reason I just to drive down the street and randomly my car will just shuts of on me . I had my ground and 12v and my signal I just to get it from the white wire from the ECU factor cluster signal any ideas why it was doing that maybe because of the JDM tach..??

Hi, I moved your post to a new thread.

The white wire from the ECU is the one carrying the tach signal. This is just an output from the ECU to the gauge cluster, so it shouldn't have any effect on the engine. If your car is dying, I'd look elsewhere to find the culprit.

Yah I know it shouldn't , but I had it connect it to the 12v ing wire and I've heard that , that's not a good idea to put it there idk if it was that or something and remember it was and ebay crap tach .. And im pretty sure it was the tach because my ive bought my pops one for his ford explorer and randomly the gas light came up i remembered correct and they said it was the tach after he took it out everything when back to normal..

If an aftermarket tach trys to die out, sometimes it is shorting to ground and will kill the ignition. Try unhooking the aftermarket unit signal wire and drive it. I think you have helped yourself answer the problem, at least its a good test. My non-dsm cars would do that sometimes if the tach gave me problems, check for any shorts going to that white wire. You dont have to unhook any other wires I wouldn't think.
Good luck :thumb:

I'd try moving the power wire first--I can see using the IGN wire causing a problem. If the problem recurs, follow Marty's advice and disconnect the signal wire.

Nice catch Paul, I didn't see that part so I agree, move that power wire first. Then if it persists, try disconnecting the white signal wire.
Thanks Paul. :thumb:

i did , I had it with a fuse holder connect it to the fuse box gauge factory cluster and it was working fine till it did it again so I just took the tach out..

I'm not sure I understand your question then... if you don't have the tach anymore, what's the problem? Have you tried powering it from a different source?
