Are there any good C.F hoods out there that properly vent ait out from under the hood. I figured i could save some weight, and get rid of some heat all at once by picking one up

I'm kinda in the same boat... Searching for a vented CF hood that is functional yet clean looking.

After looking through many pics, the VIS Racing Extreme GT CF hood seems like it might fit the bill. Here's a couple examples:

Do you think those small vents would be as effective as an OEM CF hood with a strategically placed Carbontrix vent or two?
I haven't seen either in person, but judging by photos I suspect the two vents in that VIS hood would equal one carbontrix vent. Perhaps someone with fist-hand experience could chime in. *shrug*

I worry that although that hood above looks better than a carbontrix, it is not nearly as effective. First of all it does not have a lip to help produce a low pressure zone above the vent increasing the effectiveness of the vent. Second the location, it looks to be above the valve cover, instead of right behind the radiator. Third, again location, the farther the vent is up, the more itll first be away from the airflow that your trying to vent out the radiator, and second itll be closer to turbulent air near the base of the windshield, again, reducing the effectiveness of the vent.

I had great success with the carbontrix vent and could see the effectiveness when I sprayed the front with a powerwasher, you could see the vent actually PULLING air out and over the hood and over the roof (like a windtunnel effect). It also effectively reduced my coolant temps on track. Also ducting up your front end greatly increases the effect due to higher pressure moving to lower pressure (vent).

/\ Very nice. Do you have info on the install?

so clean, yet so functional :rocks:

I'm rocking this hood from Seibon.
It is a very high quality piece.
The vents are large enough for a cat to climb into your engine bay if the mesh wasn't in place.
