Everyone says the thermal r&d sounds the best, but it is the most pricey.
If your trying to ball on a budget, megan downpipe, test pipe, and megan or Ebay ish catback.

If your looking at out vendors. Punishment racing has a 2g cat delete downpipe. The 1g pr downpipe option requires a test pipe. And Remember awd fits fwd but fwd will not fit awd

+1 megan down pipe it is pretty mean. If you know a good shop or a good welder who can hook you up with a discount I would say go that route! Once you get the down pipe it's virtually a straight shot to the muffler hanger area ( I have like a 6" bend to get around the diff and that's it)

I have a megan DP with a 3" stainless steel custom exhaust. I went with a quiet muffler and a vibrant resonator because I like to hear the engine more than the exhaust, but if you go the custom route you can pick out a mean muffler (I personally like apexi and magnaflow) and save $$$ since the shop won't have much fab work to do, I would think it would be in the ~$350-450 range including the price of the DP, but I am woefully out of touch with shop prices as I just buy my welder friends beer or help them with their cars

I think currently there's just some kind of custom straight pipe on the car, pretty loud LOL. I was watching youtube videos of diff exhaust sounds on the eclipse and I think my favorite was the hks carbon ti one - but the megan sounds awesome too and is a good budget one - So It sounds like I need the downpipe and xpipe from megan, than I can basically pick the cat back exhaust - which I might do the hks but its 800 :( Is there any welding with the megan downpipe test pipe and hks cat back setup? Or is it all bolt on? If I get the megan cat back instead would that be bolt on or is there welding needed also?

Let me ask you a question prior to me answering yours.

Do you plan on getting an awd or eventually converting your vehicle to awd?

I originally had a 2ga gst auto. I ended up with a 2ga awd auto. Guess where I put most my money? The engine bay. I had an ebay full 3" exhaust on my GST.

Being where I am now, I will tell you that the muffler is going to make the biggest sound difference between each exhaust.

I wouldn't spend $800 on a gst exhaust. I would straight pipe it and spend $150 on a nice muffler. Bigger turbo. External wastegate.

You could get an ebay exhaust and some cams to make it sound nice :D

I personally don’t like a super loud exhaust all the time so I put an electric Cutout on my Talon. It opens up just before the cat to a 3.5” open dump. When closed it sounds like stock. When it’s open it sounds like a side exit, loud as hell. The car still passes emissions testing which is required in my area.

After having an apexi ws2 on my awd and being very disappointed by the sound and overall quality, I love my eBay DNA/speed daddy exhaust! Excellent quality catback, matches up nicely to most downpipes (I matched it to a "speed racer" DP-megan knockoff) and the sound is truly unbelievable. Has a nice deep growl, and although pretty loud doesn't sound ricer at all, more like a muscle car. Fitment was perfect. Price: under $200 for everything. I can't say anything about other eBay sold exhausts but mine is awesome and has been holding up for a few years now.
A nice trick if you drive in the winter, spray the whole exhaust with Rust-Oleum rust protector or clear coat before installation.
Also for anyone who doesn't know, a simple $5 O2 sensor spacer on the rear O2 sensor prevents CELs with no cat.

I have a mint Apex Grand Sport catback for sale. 3inch at the testpipe and opens to 4 inch by the muffler. Easily best sounding exhaust i’ve ever owned. PM if interested.
