I did a lot of research in the past and remember that the stock 2.0L 4g63 had a perfect rod to stroke ratio and put a lot less stress on the cylinder walls. That's the reason these motors hardly ever have ring ridge is because there is little stress on the cylinder walls to create the ridge. Although Mitsubishi did a lot of research in the 80's with the g54b with a dual overhead cam head. If memory serves me right the 7th generation was the head on the 4g63. The motor Mitsubishi should have put in the starquest is a dual overhead cam 4g64 and would for sure be my choice for a starion/conquest :) .

Porting is done. There was a section on the throttle body flange that was overlooked but will be done this week.

Nice, looks good. Did that manifold have the injector ports in the runners? I'm leaning towards an evo manifold on a 2g head, so I won't be porting, just filling in the injector ports and cleaning it up.

Also, which engine mounts are you using? I previously asked you about what CAS your going to use and you said a 1g one. Well I just dropped my 4g64 in with the truck mounts and the 90 CAS doesn't clear the firewall, which is what I expected from what other were saying. I really don't want to cut or dent in the firewall so I'm looking at other options.

Prepped the car on Saturday in order to get the exhaust manifold made for the car. Car is going to the Fabricator in a week.... Shortened the drivers side intercooler pipe by 4 inches and it works lovely on this motor, its from the mpi g54b build. Turbo is temporarily bolted to a bracket to take this picture ;)

Looks real good guys. I've had the same thought of doing a 4G63 swap in my Starion if my G54B were to ever take a dump. I'd like to find a 4G63 wideblock as well so I could retain the OEM transmission.

63 wideblock would be nice, but they can be hard to find. If I were to do it again, the main thing I'd do differently is I would have made the machine shop balance the rotating assembly. I have a lot of engine vibration that I think could have been smoothed out if the system was all balanced together. I went out of my way to use a machine shop that could do balancing, but after they did all the machine work they convinced me the crank, aftermarket pistons and rods were all very well balanced from the factory and there was no need to have them balanced together.
