Hello, i Have a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST that's been having troubles picking up FM radio stations. The radio in question is the stock CD/cassette player AM/FM Infinity radio.

I had just figured out my radios code and replaced my old broken antenna, only to find that my radio was only picking up AM radio stations, aside from that the CD and cassette player worked remarkably. I'll have my radio on the FM channels and hit scan only to see it continuously scanning past every station.

Any ideas on how to get the FM radio stations to work?

Wouldn't be able to get many am stations without a decent antenna, my assumption is that is hooked up correctly. I see alot of factory radios do the same thing when the FM modulator is bad. It's fixable, but you have to ship the radio to one of the few repair places and I costs around $100-150 for repairs and shipping depending on the radio. Last company I used was since California about 4 years ago, can't recall the name.

You said you replaced your antenna recently. Are you sure you hooked everything on the antenna end correctly? Is the Rca style cable for the antenna plugged into the back of the headunit?

I believe so, prior to this i just had a broken off antenna that didnt work. I checked multiple times to nake sure i had everything connected (even the ground plug attached to the car which i find to be useless after experimenting) Also if the rca style cable is the one connected to the brown box at the back of the antenna unit then yes its plugged in

So yeah i do recieve quite a few am radio transmissions and the radio plays cd and cassette pretty well. Must be a bad Fm modulator. If so how would i go about repairing or replacing the fm modulator? I'm a seasoned Do-it yourself-er and at this point in time i just really wanna listen to my favorite radio stations instead of just talk shows and cds.

You've reached the level that I don't dabble in currently, at least not with car stereo stuff. I get things so cheap that it's far better for me to put a new stereo in vs stock stuff, and I have little love for most stock stereo equipment.
Sorry :idontknow:
