Hood Install...Finally
Finally got around to installing the hood on the car. Came out great. Only took about a month for me to get motivation to put the hood on.

Parts and More Parts

I was able to score on some new parts for the build. Picked up the following from a couple local partouts : Walbro 450 FP, Megan Coilovers, Kirkey aluminum seats with covers and G-Force 5pt harness, autopower industries roll cage, tubular front roll stop, and a JMF Race intake manifold with a s90 throttle body. Cant wait for the weather to clear up and work to slow down so I can start working on the car again. Got to love Michigan!!

I already installed the walbro 450 FP as well as repainted the front roll stop.

When i picked up the coilovers they were in pretty decent shape. Guy told me they only had a couple hundred miles on them. However to me they were filthy. I decided to take them apart, clean them and have them ready to put on the car.

I have really been debating on whether to run a JMF Race SMIM with a s90 TB. However when a great deal was presented to me i couldn't say no. Plans for the mani are just to clean, put new gaskets on the TB and probably just scuff up the intake and shoot it with clear. I love the brushed aluminum look.

Lastly by far my favorite purchase. The Kirkeys, covers, harness, and roll cage. I can't wait to start working on this.

Till next time guys.

Man such a clean beautiful machine! Build threads like this is what keeps me going in my build! Now I want to paint my hood black LOL.
Thanks man. I'm glad I can push you to keep going on your build.

SMIM and Throttle Body Cleaning
Got off work a little early today and decided to try and spend the time getting the intake and throttle body ready for installation. After a couple hours the intake is ready to go. Just need to get a new head to mani gasket as well as a new gasket for the throttle body and it should be installed in no time. Gotta love the look of brushed aluminum.

Its been a while since i last posted. Have been working on a couple 1g's and recently bought a new project. 97 Eclipse GST. With the Red GSX practically done all that is needed to finish that car up is to put the cage and seats in as well as switch over to E85 and get the car re tuned. That shouldn't take long to do but with this crazy Michigan winters i figured i would pic up another project to keep me active.

Car was originally brought to my house by a semi local dsmer for me to build. However with trying to create a budget and an idea of what he wanted as well as possibly relocation he ended up selling the car to me. Car was not running but came with a built motor, and a quaife trans. Other items like gauge, new harness, fp intake, fpr.......

With the car at my house and officially mine i decided to tear it all down and see what i had to work with. Honestly this car has seen better days. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Diagnosed the reason for no start. When the trans was swapped over the engine harness was misrouted and crushed by the back side of the trans and trans bracket. Good thing i had a virgin harness laying around.

As soon as you opened the hood you could tell that these strut towers were F***ed. Loved chipping away at the 1/8th inch thick amount of bondo that was applied. No biggie for me. I have fixed may strut towers in my day for may dsmers. Piece of cake. Just a lot of work. Here is the carnage.

Cut out all the rust and also in the mean time picked up a front clip from a guy.

Initial thoughts were to drill out the spot welds and reweld in the whole tower. However went a different direction. Big thanks to my dad. He work with sheet metal everyday and is the most experienced fab guy i know that does the job right. This is one way we really bond in fab work and building cars.

Now this is as the car sits today 2/17/19. First fire up went great. However the alternator that i put on that looked brand new was undercharging the system so replace the alternator as well as the batter. Once i started the vehicle it was running very lean. Did a BLT and noticed one coupler was leaking. Tightened it up and it was still super lean. Come to find out that the MAF i had in the car had the honeycombs removed from it. Fixed that now it runs perfect.

Got some more done today with the car. Put the Evo 8 Enkies on the car, cleaned the outside and the inside, and installed the front bumper. Last thing to do is wheel the car out and off she goes. Dont think i will be keeping the car. Most likely will be putting an add together and selling the car. I enjoying fixing these cars up and making them look like they are supposed to look. Someone will get a hell of a car. More updates on the Red and White GSX as soon as the GST is gone.

awesome job of jabbing a repair for the strut tower ...i'd have scrapped it ...gives me courage
Yeah it's tough for me to just get rid of cars like these especially when the exterior and interior are in awesome shape. I was suprised that only the strut towers we're rotted on this car. Typically the rear wheel wells and rockers are shot too but pretty solid on this one.

Since the burgundy car was finally complete now I can put all my focus on the red gsx for the upcoming season. Got the cage fitted into the car. Still need to fit the carpet, make some brackets for the kirkeys and we should be good to go.

With the cage in the car I decided to start on getting the kirkeys mounted. I decided to use the stock rails and work from there. Big thanks to my dad for getting some material cut out and help with the seat install. Love spending the time with him working on my projects. More to come. Enjoy

Finally with the weather breaking I was able to get some stuff done the the red gsx. Put on my new cross drilled and slotted brake rotors as well as finally installed my RM front and rear sway bars.
