Hey, I'm getting ready to start putting my engine together I just got back from the machine shop. I need help deciding which of these flywheels I should use, or if there is any real difference. One flywheel is out of a 90 awd that was modded (and blown up... not by me). The other is out of a bone stock 91 awd. I can tell just by looking at them and picking them up that the one out of the 90 is lighter. It also looks like the lighter one lived a lot harder life. The clutch kit I will be using is the ACT 2600. So, if you guys had these two flywheels sitting on your garage floor and were gonna have only one resurfaced and placed onto you built engine, which would you choose? Thanks!

I don’t use stock flywheels in modded cars, it’s too easy to have one come apart.

But if you are going to use one of those two use the one with the least cracks.

Come apart!!! this is the first i've heard of this! please fill me in and tell me what kind of flywheel you'd suggest. I'm not planning on crazy numbers. I have a built block with an v1 68hta.

I run the stock ones for the added weight, the heavier it is the harder it is to stall the engine also it will lurch much less when taking off from a stop with big cams or a grabby clutch, I do have them magnafluxed at the machine shop though to check for cracks, also it wont hurt to use a scatter shield if your planning on higher than stock rpm. I would run the top one after its been checked out and resurfaced.

thanks, I was wanting to stick with stock for drive-ability.
