If go with a RWD swap does it matter what body/sub model you have I was told if the engine stays transverse it matters because of motor mounts so I have that figured out. I want a 1g DSM BUILT , is this true

#1 Example: I took a 1G GS or RS , RWD swapped it and ((it wouldn't matter whether it was transverse left or transverse right)) because the original mounts weren't needed is this true

1Gs all came with the 4G63, either N/A or Turbo. So engine mounts for the 4G63 (transverse, timing belt towards driver side) stay the same. 1 mount in front of the driver side shock tower, 1 mount on the front subframe, and 1 mount on the front cross member (behind radiator). The 4th mount is for the trans and bolts up slightly under the passenger side shock tower.

If you want to keep the 4G63 engine but have it longitudinal, you will have to make entirely custom mounts to either reach the original mounting points or fab up new ones. Same goes if you're planning on swapping an LS or whatever.

Keep in mind that these engine bays were not designed ever to run a longitudinal engine. Right off the bat the trans housing will probably interfere with the subframe and chassis/tunnel. I know it's been done, but these are the main points to think about. Also don't be temped to buy a GSX and remove the front axles, LOL.

Keep in mind that you will have to run a drive shaft leading to the rear if you are converting from a FWD to a RWD.

The fact that you are asking this I am assuming you are having this built? My apologies up front if you find this insulting but if you're going to do this yourself you aren't qualified if you're asking a question like that. No it woudln't matter if you're building a RWD. What would matter is what transmission options are available. Also, whether or not the car has a driveshaft tunnel (I"m not 100% sure 1g fwd did). If you're doing things custom anything is possible with enough money but most of us are not independently wealthy and expect some bang for buck. If you want to have a RWD built expect to shell out some cash. You also have a ton of questions to ask and answer yourself. What is the car used for? Is this a race car? Is it a street car? You will have to answer these questions before a build can start. The old saying still applies. If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there.

you're fine and yes am getting it done by someone else but am going get a majority of the parts together myself , thanks for the input

I don't know what the car would be used for or what power range it has. But if the car is a super serious drag or drift car which has serious torque/horse power then the RWD swap is the only way to go. But if you just want to enjoy to drive a RWD car or the power range wouldn't be that high, then maybe a drift center diff (VCE) would make your life way easier. And even you would be able to go back to AWD when you want.
