I’m Not sure where to post this. Please move if need be. Thank you

I have a single line catch can with a vent. And from the Valve cover i have one single -12 an fitting. The port that goes to the intake is plugged.
Does it harm the car having just one line to a vented can? The valve cover and can where given to me by another dsm’er drag car set up.

You'll want a good vacuum and check valve between the vc and intake manifold to have constant vacuum at idle and decel. The 12an you can run from vc to catch can but it won't do a whole lot. I don't care for vented catch cans myself I prefer a sealed setup. Vc to catch can, catch can to turbo intake pipe along with the stock pcv setup. That way you'll constantly have vacuum on the crankcase at idle cruise boost and decel

Try searching dsm PCV system, there is a very nice detailed write up about how the PCV on these cars work and how you should modify them if needed. Right now it sounds like yours most likely is wrong, but once you read up on it you will know for sure. Good luck!

I went back and fourth between sealed and vented. Found the vented to be the most effective as for a
I run an Ebay non baffled catch can. I also run a straight line with no pcv but I use a jm fabrications race intake manifold. I do believe it ads a psi or 2 of crank case pressure. If you ever do go sealed/baffled, mishimoto has a nice effective one just a bit on the expensive side!

So you are pressuring your valve cover under boost?

I also run ebay "non baffled" catchcans. But, I an running pcv AND an aftermarket checkvalve before i hit the intake manifold. My cans have filler in them though.

All,
Thank you for everyone’s input, much appreciated. Idk why the previous owner of the VC only ran one line off the cover with the PCV opening plugged. Well I’ll fix it and add a second line on that side. Again thank you.

I dont think it's any more pressure in the valve cover since I run fairly large lines and a vent filter on top the can. I'm not positive on that but I always heard it just increases crank case pressures very minimal. Of course on a daily driver that route might not be preferred depending on the circumstances. Ya I was gonna go that route but now got a different intake manifold. I also prefer to have the least amount of blow by in the intake pipe and intake manifold as possible. But baffling makes it alot more efficient.

You would be surprised. My intake pipe stays clean. I'll have to upload some pictures this week. Most my nonsense is on my instagram. Easier to upload from a phone. But this site deserves the nonsense more.

Ya that's a pretty nice looking set up! Especially for the cost and the fact it got something to help prevent sucking any baffling material through the lines. I just got tired of messing with it yet couldn't find a baffled one cheap enough so I did away and went vented.

I just picked up a Mishimoto catch can similar to the one you purchased and customized, from a member on here.

I run a sealed Calan can with one -12AN line to the sealed can which goes to the intake pipe, works well. I am also installing a Moroso can to run the PCV valve. Last year I ran the stock PCV valve to the intake and found there was a good amount(More than I like) of build up inside the intake manifold right around the PCV fitting. Further digging found my #3 & #4 piston had carbon build up but the #1 & #2 were spotless. I can only trace it back to the crap coming in from the PCV valve to causing that. The Moroso can is nice and can take the stock lines. I will use two Kynar 3/8" check valves between the intake and catch can to prevent anything from getting by, I used one on my last setup and never had a problem. The Moroso can looks to have a good filtering system and does not restrict by much(If any). Here is the Moroso can, I may cut it and extend it to increase the capacity:
