Hey guys, there are some really nice shifter assemblies our there for other cars and I'd like to use one from an Acura Rsx. The problem is the cables are shorter for the rsx, if I can get my hands on a set of stock RSX cables would that be ok? The pictures all look like they will fit onto the transmission and all I will have to do is make an adapter plate to bolt the assembly down or just drill some holes in the tunnel. Any tips on swapping will be appeappreciated. And please don't message if all youre going to say is what's wrong with the stock one.

Have any links to one of these said shifters, I'm just curious what the advantage will be and what you're looking for when upgrading?

Biggest issue is going to be getting the cables adjusted properly with shifter position. It's not impossible, but it's alot of effort and I'm not sure it'll be worth the headache, but I'm open minded if you have some info.

Your going to need a shifter assembly and cables as well that have the same THROW, without that being right you can really get into some custom arms and such which might not really be worth it.

Aside from looking amazing, it's got an incredible build quality, it's very smooth with great feedback, and tons of adjustability. I've got my hands on one and it almost fits perfectly on stock cables. The arms that connect to the assembly are just a little bit too long and the hole that the cables connect to with the c clip thing are just a bit too small. Both are things that can be modified.

I mean, if you have it and it's that simple to mod to fit, I'd try to use the stock cables instead of completely changing them out.

Personally I don't think it'll become a popular thing aside from our normal shifter rebuilds, since the cost for the actual shifter is so high and you really can't justify it for 95% of the dsms out there. Full race car? No problem, but spending 400 on something you have to modify to work for a fairly small return seems counter-intuitive.

But if you already have it, go for it, document things and give us some feedback once you're done

It's more of a supply and demand thing. I would love to buy one that's made and meant for our cars but there Isn't one. So I'm going to have to make something work. Also this community has a stigma of being cheapos and getting eBay turbos and smashing bovs instead of buy a quality part.

While I agree to a point, there hasn't been alot of necessity or "demand" for a crazy shifter option, since the stock, rebuilt stuff works perfectly fine in 95% of the cars in the DSM realm.

As for DSM owners being cheap, it happens more often than I'd like to admit, tho I don't include myself in that exact group, as I think the majority of true, long term owner/drivers prefer and are willing to buy quality parts.

Perhaps once you mod this one you can develop an aftermarket option for the DSM crowd?
