So i have a 91 talon awd all stock i got it just about 3 months ago and under boost the rear end makes this THUD sound only when in boost the car is all stock has 73k original miles i drive the car everyday and this just started happening the other day not to sure what the deal is? have not got a chance to get under and see how the rear end is but when i do i can get other ppls info and ideas and check it out tmro.

My first thought would be that the driveshaft support bearings are hitting the support due to deterioration of the rubber that suspends them inside the hangers. That driveshaft has two of these, since the shaft has three sections, and each of those middle joints need these to control movement.

There should be a tech article on how to inject the hangers with some rubbery type substance to control the shaft whipping about under heavy throttle. Shaft has to be removed totally from the car (two end joints, and two hangers to disconnect for this), and then supported to take any stress off the hangers for the injection. This has to set for at least a day, maybe several days to properly cure. Once this process is done, it should last at least a decade, maybe more. I think mine has at least 60k miles and ten years. The driveshaft does NOT have to be disassembled for this, just removed.

Drat, the front connection is a slip joint that just pulls out of the transfer case. Try to have the car jacked higher in the rear to keep the oil from running out. A softdrink cup may slide over the tail section and seal this from leaking while the shaft is out, and keep things clean. If you lose oil, don't forget to replace it before driving.
