Before anyone says about reading other posts, I have, haven't found similar situation yet

I want to turbo my GS, I am using everything stock (turbo ecu, injectors, smic, turbo gearbox, etc.) and I want to be on the safe side. Going with either t25 or 14b for now. (Goal 220-240 bhp), Some people say I'd be alright as is but Id rather be on a safe side...

To be clear, the car has a 4g63 7 bolt 1999 year, Euro version. I already have the turbo transmission installed, since I am in Europe, I will have to pay the shipping, customs and some other taxes so, if I bought the aftermarket stuff id pay double the price.

This way I can get 100$ evo8 pistons and rods (with new rings) and have my engine rebuilt. I plan on buying an engine gasket kit and the cometic headgasket with arp bolts all around + acl bearings.

My main question is, is it all bolt on (other than resurfacing block and head) or moding/hacking has to be done on certain parts, because I will acquire all the parts and hand it to a shop to do it for me (no knowledge in rebuilding/no time on my part) so if there's something to be done, id have to tell them in advance.

Thanks in advance everyone

all the turbo parts should bolt on.
you need the resistor pack for the turbo injectors. If your gonna use your stock harness you might need to mod it slightly to get the resistor pack wired in.
If you don't already know, you will need a turbo oil pan, down pipe and water pipe also

Thanks for the reply man, yeah I know it all bolts up, and I know about the resistor pack and the wiring diagram, basically its just each wire to the harness of it.. What I am worried about is the internals of evo8 inside of the engine, if they fit 100% or modding needs to be done to something..

You can use these items fine the other thing you want to check is the install side for the piston/rods, you are ment to turn them 180 but some people have been ok the oem dsm way so check that out, its for valve clearance. You can out NT 4G parts in a turbo so the ssme applied to turbo to NA parts, just some clearances may be a tad different if any at all,

@Kryndon did the reverse swap on his turbo rebuild and he likes to be thorough so ask him anything and im sure he can also advise on his swap and what he did,

The blocks are for the most part identical from 4G NT to Turbo in the DSM

Thanks for the reply man,

I know @Kryndon , he even suggested me the evo internals and he lives close to me here in Europe. I just wanted to have all the info in one place (the clearance stuff+the rotation and stuff) so I can just hand it down to the shop Ill take the car to

Because I don't know what needs to be done with the mls head gasket and stuff like that, all I know is I' will have it machined for surfaces and that's it

I know I can just message you on FB but I'd rather leave some more info here for people searching in the future.

What we know is that the valve height (length) for a DSM and for an EVO 8 is the same. What we also know is that the N/A 10:1 piston has an almost flat piston top with deeper valve cutouts. The EVO 8 piston has an indented crown with a compression ratio of 8.8:1 (in an EVO setup). However the valve cutouts should be just as deep if not deeper than the N/A piston, and I believe the EVO 8 has higher valve lift because of this.

The point I'm trying to make is related to what Bobby said about which way you face the EVO 8 pistons in a DSM block. It is advised to install them the same way as in the EVO block, with the dots pointing towards the cams. Now if you take into account what I said previously about the valves and pistons, that would mean it's completely safe to run these pistons in a DSM block without fear of hitting valves as soon as you crank it.

However, and this is the important bit, that would only be safe if you're running a block and head which have not been machined/milled, and are using standard style head gasket (1.4mm thick). If you want to run the Cometic MLS, that means you need to mill both the block and the head; in addition the gasket itself is much thinner. So you will most definitely need to have someone properly check for valve clearance. Here's a great video by Jafromobile on this:

As for the rods from an EVO8, they are the same, but a tad stronger (than the 7 bolt DSM ones). Conrod bearings for both types of conrod are the same, so if you buy ACL bearings, just get the kit for a DSM 4G63 7 bolt block.
