Curious what other stuff you guys/gals put your time into these days. I'm starting to spend time geeking out in the "Internet of Things" for smart home gadgets. Just installed a smart door lock and am looking at all kinds of other devices to play around with. I know this stuff isn't new but I'm only just now starting to have fun with them.

What's taking up your time these days outside of DSMs?

Electronics, particularly old robots and pinball machines, since I was old enough to crawl Ive always loved the old Radio Shack electronics experimenters and things like that such as Heathkit trainers, anything electromechnical especially, I love the idea of things that can physically interact from electronic brain power, so that and motorcycles (off road racing and also an occasional rip on a sport bike).

I got into this about 4 years ago. Ive poured a tremendous amount of time into developing my skills with plans to compete nationally. This is a video my brother shot for me last year at one of the better air fields here in CT. Not an easy thing to film but he started getting pretty good at it, and his camera is sick. This is the airplane I fly the most, it has a 100'' wingspan, weighs about 27lbs, and is powered by a Desert Aircraft 120cc twin cylinder engine. Runs on 93 octane with 3.5 oz of Redline Racing 2cycle oil per gallon.......and a drop of Star-tron.

I had some highschool buddies who got way into rc planes, they were pretty good, but that video was pretty amazing. I never could get plane control from the ground down very well, but it's been at least ten years since I've tried it.

Personally I'm getting back into sketching, as well as gaming more when I can. I have a herniated disc in my neck that I'm having surgery for on the 30th, so I'll be out of doing anything for at least 3 months, closer to 5-6 probably, but once I'm back to functional I plan to get back to the gym pretty heavily. The last year was kinda rough on myself and the family, and I fell out of my gym routine, put on some weight and in general just don't feel as good physically.

I'd like to start doing some Spartan race/dirty dash events once I'm back on top of things.

Bad to the bone man!!!
Now have the little pilot jump out and hold up his hands in Victory!!! :applause:

I play games and watch alot of youtube. I occasionally go snowboarding but i just recently sprained my neck by falling on my head. I am waiting for summer so i can start my dsm project.

Other than my 1g, being a garage hobby "mechanic"/DIY guy pretty much is my hobby. If it has a motor, I work and tinker on it. I have a F body Camaro I'm fixing up alongside my 1g, I have a small collection of somewhat vintage Briggs, Clinton, and Tecumseh small motors, I've done a couple mini bike builds with 5-6hp motors, "restored" a 1985 Suzuki lt250r, etc. I'm always tinkering in the garage. My 1g is my first big attempt at bodywork, been going pretty slow hoping it turns out good!

200 bucks and got into 3D printing.

Riding the dunes and camping with family and friends is something I really enjoy and need regularly.
I’ve been going to the Pismo Dunes with family since it 1982, just before they reduced it from 15,000 acres to 1,500 acres.
Been riding my own ride since 1992 on a Suzuki LT250R Quadracer.
In 1995 I did my first frame up restoration of my 1987 Banshee.
There’s something about waking up to sound of the ocean, the first cup of coffee in the morning barefoot in the sand around last nights fire pit, and the smell of 2 strokes in the morning that just re-centers me from chaotic and mundane commuting life in the valley.
My old 87 Banshee at Pismo.

If you ever go to Joe knoll.. here in south carolina. It's a must for any rc pilot

Apart from cars not much LOL, it takes up alot of time, i used to play games alot but grew out of that and noe concentrate on learning chassis and suspension so i guess its still outside of the DSM area,

One thing i would like to learn and do is some basic camera work/drone video. But that means getting a drone which i can never bring myself to buy.

Oh god where to start.
I love home theater stuff. My current set up in the living room is a 7.1 Klipsch speaker set up that includes a 15" sub. End goal is to build a shed/theater in the backyard (I'm on half acre), go all out and do a 7.2.4 setup withAtmos.

I also love doing stuff around the house. I love to improve the home. I just did 5 1/4" baseboards around the whole house.

I like cooking. Haha... I know it sounds odd but I love cooking for the family while listening to the Joe Rogan podcast.

I love guns. I don't have a large collection just yet but I'll get there...

And lastly I LOVE photography. In addition to being a Realtor by trade, I also do real estate photography. That just pays the bills. I personally try to attend different Motorsports events to snap some shots. I'll upload some of my favorite.

PC gaming is my other main hobby besides the DSM. Not as much work to do there but every once in awhile I build a sweet config, overclock it to the f***ing moon (LOL) and just spend a lot of my free time playing games. Been a 'hardcore' gamer before I got into cars, no plans to change that. In fact I recently spent half my car budget for assembling a new PC so that set me back quite a few $ but it's worth it. It's the equivalent of a 9 second 1/4 mile car, LOL. I really like the hardware aspect of computers. Much simpler than assembling a whole car, but still interesting and rewarding when it all works and performs well.

For me it's trying to do stuff with the wife and daughter. Outside of that and working on my 2 cars I usually help buddies on their rides. If we have nothing to do with cars I usually am practicing playing my bass or on the ps4. We also do some traveling to concerts or car shows because there is absolutely nothing to do in central Louisiana as I don't care for fishing or hunting.

I got back into fishing a bit. Usually go after perch and walleye in Lake St. Clair. I need to get stuff together to get out there for ice fishing.
Oh how I miss me some ice fishing. Dont live In Minnesota anymore, but people still call me crazy cuz us northern people would drive our cars on the lakes LOL

I love fishing, riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers, and enjoy home improvement stuff, and making my garage how I want it to be. Just bought a house early last year so alot of my time and money has been on that. Almost done with those things then I can turn my attention back to my talon which hasnt had a motor for 4 years now :'( but will soon change :)

200 bucks and got into 3D printing.
This is another topic I really need to learn more about. So much that can be done with 3D printing and it’s growing all the time. I’ve actually thought a lot about starting a community around it dedicated to printed objects made for automotive applications.
