My 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gst wont idle Right for some reason. It acts like it ain’t getting fuel but I am sure it’ll turn over fine and act like it wants to start But still want have done bought new spark plus and tried hitting it with some starter fluid and still cant get it to run without me haveing my foot on the gas

I checked timeing its good, about to go check my fuel but i know its getting spark just replaced spark plug and check my spark plug wires the ohm its reading is about 8. On everyone and the wired thing i dont get is it acts like it wants to start but won’t now

What spark plugs did you buy? Brand and type.
What did you gap them to?

Have you done a boost leak test?
Are there any exhaust leaks?
Any check engine light codes?

Why dont you upload a picture of your engine bay, it will help us a lot faster.

Fill out a profile. Be more specific. Did this start happening after you did something?

I just bought the car at first it had a idleing issues were it wouldnt stay running but u could drive it and everything shifted fine and runs good no knocks or ticks or anything just when u dont have ur foot on the gas the car basically just dies. Thr car has 108,788 miles on it. Ian did bot modification to it myself and looks like all the guy i bought it from has did to its is a air intake besides that nothing else that u can tell.

Man she needs some serious love, but there's nothing we seek more than a stockish DSM.

I can guarantee you have a few boost leaks. Make a boost leak tester. These cars run like shit with even small vacuum leaks.
Besides the obvious you want to check the TPS (throttle position sensor), if it's not calibrated properly it will cause many issues including your symptoms. Also the IAC motor (idle air control valve or ISC) which goes bad on these cars, specifically the tan ones.
I'm thinking your problem lies within the throttle body.
Really what you need to do is clean and rebuid that throttle body and make sure the sensors attached to it are working properly. The TPS is a bi*** to adjust the first time you do it but it has to be done right

Bov not hooked up, spark plug wires “numbered” wrong, just by observing the photo. Check biss isnt bottomed out. Previous owner did more than just intake. That is aftermarket turbo, 1g cas which means he did some wiring, 1g head etc.

I would double check your spark plug firing order. Since you have a 1g cas you have to swap the plug wires.

And do u know what order i need to have them by chance since it is a 1g cas ?

Easiest way to say it, on the coil pack it should be stamped, it looks like he has your coilpack just sitting upside down, so make sure its oriented correctly, but factory is 4-1-2-3. All you have to do is swap the coils, so i move them together to get my new firing order 2-3-4-1. Been doing it that way for 20 years, never had an issue. Others have other firing orders that work, but thats how i do mine. That is of course if thats the issue. Cylinder number one is the one closest to timing belt.

Ok thanks ill go try that now im going to post the link for the video i got of what its doing now

This may not be your problem, but after watching your video it sounds like a problem I recently had with the power transistor. My car started once, idled rough and only stayed running while I had my foot on the gas. After that it wouldn't start and was flooding. You could diagnose this if you have spark on 2 cylinders and not the other 2. On my 6 bolt the power tr unit is located on the back of the head on the driver side near the timing belt cover. I was lucky and the plug had just wiggled loose. Again not sure if this is your issue but thought I'd throw this out there. Others have posted good possibilities as well. Ill include a pic of what it is. Good luck!

Ok guy thanks for the help i got it running but its still running right the idle aint smooth or nothing idk what it could Be honestly this time but i got a video just incase i post the link maybe yall know what it could Be

And if need be ill try to get a video of inside on the dash board showing the idle rpms but could it be because of as the guy said above about the ignition coils not being right since head as been swapped and all

What did you end up doing to get it running? And after watching the new video it acts like vacuum leaks or vac lines not ran properly. Someone above mentioned that the bov wasn't hooked up, there may be others not ran or not ran correctly

My stepdad over looked a fuse for the actual motor and i took of the power transmitter and cleaned it and hooked it back up but ive capped off most of the vaccum hoses that werent ran and ran my blow off vavle into the nippl on the throttle body
