Sounds like you need to source a cheap turbo engine loom, eeprom, and a DOHC head with a 2g manifold and a 14b/16g and have a 1 wheeler peeler/ drift pig (or would it be drift donkey since you can haul crap with it?)

Drift Donkey....I like that! If I can gather the parts without spending much, I may just have to put a 14b on this thing!

Took me about an hour to get the damn brake drum off banging on it with a go-devil and a propane torch! But finally success! Thing is, cables moving and I don't see anything wrong...adjusted the the shoes to the point any more and I can't put the drum back on. Soooo since the cable is out of adjustment as it's been adjusted to the point it can't go be tightened any further...the cable stretched??? *sigh* time to improvise? Or just buy new ones?

How big of a lip is on the drums? You will need to have them machined if you have to adjust them by pulling the drum off and on until you get enough clicks. There's no window in the back for adjusting while they are on? Is your wheel cyl wet from spraying penetrating oil or is it leaking? Peel back the rubber on both sides and check for fluid inside. Replace if there is any. I don't know what brake issues you are having, but there's a reason your in there I assume. Low peddle? spongy?, noise? parking brake not working?

Yes there's a window, it's wet from a combination of both possibly. there was a little bit of some sort of fluid under the outer shield/boot/dust cover so there's a very minor leak. I'm in there because of the paring brake. I'm told the cables can stretch and apparently have. I can't adjust the shoes out any further without them contacting the drum. And pulling the cable/parking brake despite everything moving freely doesn't move the shoes. Sooo I have to figure out a way to remove the slack from the cables and or replace them.

So good news! I didn't need the front cable or rear brake shoes! So those can go back to the store for a refund. Was getting late by the time I started though and I had no one to help with the hydraulic brakes (pumping them) so I decided not to replace the wheel cylinders for now. And just get those parking brake cables swapped out.

Actually was going surprisingly easy considering how dirty the underside of the truck is. Until I get to the wheel back plate brake backing plate, whatever. And this little sob didn't want to cooperate so since it's no good anyway and I have a new one here. SCREW YOU BUDDY! grabbed the propane torch and heated the spring to anneal it. grabbed the wire cutters, snip snip snip hah! pulled the cable out so I had more room to work with that spring steel cage thing, has prongs that stick out so it can't be pulled out once installed, 3 of them, must take some special took to press all 3 in at once to remove it. Well I don't have that, but what I do have is that torch, so more fire will make it comply! Got it good and glowing hot, annealed nicely, then it was just push those prongs in and they stayed in, pulled it out and to the trash can it goes!

Noticed this little bag of fun while working on the drivers side.. figured I never find them with eggs actually still in them, poked at it. Noticed a very unhappy looking mommy running around! I do NOT like spiders! I wanted to grab the torch for this too, but.. the gas tank was less than a foot away and the filler neck a few inches away... fire didn't seem like a prudent choice here... reminded me of the guy that burnt his house down because of a big ass spider (orb weaver I think)...Okay...well lets see how much they like kerosene in a can... i mean wasp & hornet spray. (stuff sure smells like kerosene...) Didn't seem to like it, good.. I'll remove that egg sack later.

Interestingly this side (drivers) used a C-clip instead of that cage thing.

Also decided to see what was in that vacuum distribution box...

See that hornet, I thought it was dead... until it moved! eek! damn it! last time one of those stung me, it got me on the hand, a week after one got me on the arm, that first one I had no reaction, the 2nd a week later my hand swelled up about twice the size of my other, looked like a balloon hand! Killed that little sob too!

The list[/size=4]

DONE!
Headlights
Adjust Clutch Cable
Parking brake
Change oil/filter since who knows how old it is.
Battery hold down
Replace thermostat with correct temp spec unit

NEEDS TO BE DONE
Oil leak from distributor
Fuel hose routing
Verify there are no vacuum leaks
Replace garbage wiring
Replace windshield wipers
Get tag lights working
Re-jet carburetor possibly replace with Webber
Radiator fan
Inspect and replace timing belt and components if need be. As well as balance shaft belt.
Remove any unused connections, wires and hoses.
Replace passenger side door
Repair or replace bench seat.
Replace flywheel (missing teeth)
Replace seatbelts since I'm unsure if the recall has been performed.
Replace tail gate
Replace cracked windshield
Repair small spot in the bed/tray near the tail gate where it's damaged / hole
Replace rear passenger side tail light housing (got a hole in it)
Rebuild transmission
Replace shocks
Paint it myself

Trying to figure out what the next priority is. Flywheel? (pretty sure the one on the other engine has all it's teeth, replace the seal for the distributor? Radiator fan? Wipers? Windshield wipers are easy to cross off.. lets do windshield wipers next....then the fan.

I thought we had sh**ty emissions laws.
I love your narratives LOL

Think of it this way, when's the last time you walked into a parts store and they asked if your car was "Federal" or "Vermont" emissions?... It doesn't happen.

California is ridiculous with their C.A.R.B. standards.. We offset it for them in some parts of PA :thumb:. You have to pass a 'safety' inspection annually, but there's no emissions testing in some counties ROFL.

yah I don't understand the whole concept when most states don't give two shits if you have any emissions what so ever. then other states won't even allow an unregistered unistpected vehicle in your yard, barn or on your property period (Rhode Island coming to mind). Talk about some straight communist bullshit. vermont as of this year got really stupid about inspection I mean really stupid. Seems the government is on its way to making us all drive a fu@@ing prius. hah I'll keep taking my 78 dollar fine and smile

The engine below is the extra G63 engine... turns freely, but that's all I know about it. I don't have any M10 bolts long enough to mount it to the stand. I'm going to pull the head off and pan off of it and have a look. And see if I can figure out if I can put a DOHC cyl head on it..

It's funny to me that these first Sirius 4G63 engines Dodge just dropped the "4" off the engine code to be G63 LOL

The part I'm going to need help with though, is figuring out what if anything is different about the timing belt setup if and once I get a DOHC cyl head to toss on this block.

There, fixed it for you...Liberal loony land.

With 4g63 timing setup, tensioner, pulleys, gears etc... And oil pump/cover you should be good.

I have used Hyundai sohc oil pumps before on 4g's.

Get what you vote for.

Vote for the D, you get the D. In all reality though it's mattering less and less... they're all turds. Some just smell more than others. Liberty robbing treasonous selfish.... don't get me started. But, note the best leaders don't tend to want to be in the slot, and the worst can't wait to gain more power. ANNNYWAY

Well, while at work I happened to recall I had some extra, old manifold to turbo bolts laying around and had a hunch...and sure enough. Tada! 1 G63B ready for tear down.

BTW anyone know what the Hyundai's that had Sirius engines in them with DOHC were? I think they had what 1.8L engines? Best I recall their cylinder heads will slap right onto a 4G63 and the only difference is the combustion chambers are, I can't recall slightly smaller or larger in cc... Looking for something in a junkyard cheap so I need to know what cars to look for that I could grab a head off of.

I just wish I understood what "R" stands for anymore.. I think we should blow up the whole 2 party system and start from scratch, but then again would we would be screwed with the weird progressives??

The 4g67 was a 1.8 by Mitsubishi.

The g4cn I believe was the 1.8 hyundai. Specifically in the 92 Elantra (1 year only) in 6 bolt.

But I believe the 7 bolt version was available with 1g style mounts until 95.

I believe the above info is correct, going off of 8 year old CSM memory/knowledge....

If you do happen to find an early 90's Elantra, take the motor mounts. They are a direct fit for a Colt swap. And in short supply.

Would a 4G69 head also work? (from the newer 2.4L)? or 4g64? (pretty sure the 4G64 would...)

I don't really care what it's off of, whatever I can find, that's the cheapest and will work without a ton of work is what I'll go with.
