Can anyone please help me with a couple of measurements? I do not have an engine/transmission assembly to measure. I would like overall measurements of a 1g awd engine & transmission assembly that is still bolted together. I have attached a photo of the measurements I am looking for. Before I get trolled, this is for dropping into a '74 colt engine bay and that is why I am asking for overall dimensions and not dimensions between engine mount centerlines. Significant mount alterations will need to happen, I just want to know if overall dimensions of the engine/transmission assembly will fit in the engine bay. I would also like to maybe measure overall forward/aft dimensions of the same configuration. Thank you in advance.

Can Polly get this sometime tomorrow for you

Hey, I would greatly appreciate the help. I spent several hours looking for this content, but it doesn't seem to exist, unless of course you had the components to measure yourself. Plenty of folks have asked, but no answers.

I got off late, but I'll try and measure the length when I'm back at my house.

That was the plan. I recall measuring this at one point, but never wrote it down. I want to say 38 inches but I'll measure in a few min, waiting at a train

Edit: 36.5" from trans tip to front of balancer, frame rails come in at 35". 27" edge-edge on front and rear motor mounts. Passenger side of motor mounts is 19.5" from front of balancer.

Close as I can get without setting up my spare engine/trans in the shop, which ain't happening tonight haha.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, that helps a bunch! yea, I remember the xmsn housing going slightly under the passenger frame rail. I guess i'm just gonna have to just start hacking away. I don't suppose there is anyone in San Diego with a dormant/scrap 1g awd eng & xmsn assembly that I can borrow for mocking up this engine bay?!?

Just in case anyone is wondering, rail to rail for '74 colt is 25". Time to make miracles happen :(

Oof. Sounds like tube front end or rwd are the best bets. I think tube front end would be best as long as it doesn't affect licensing, but being California I bet they'll hose you on that.

What's the car being built for?
