So, to my understanding the 1g to 2g ECU wiring harness only supports the CAS with the plug-in style connection on the sensor itself (1991+ CAS). However, I have a 1990 CAS (a picture of this from google is shown below). Is it simply not compatible due to different functionality or is it just because it doesnt plug to the wiring harness and requires soldering...

Those pictures look oddly familiar...

Anyhow, IF you are willing to try it, I suspect that it will be an easier fix than most.

I make plug in harnesses to use the 91- CAS in a 90, and it is just a matter of routing wires, so the electrical signals should be compatible if you use your 90 in the 95-96.

The connector on the 90 uses the same terminals etc as the 95-96, it is just a different plastic housing. You would need to depin the 90 CAS, and then put the 95-96 crank and CAS connectors on it. 3 pin triangle and 3 pin straight. Then it will plug into your 95-96 harness, assuming it is long enough to reach. You should be able to check that before doing any other work.
