This used to be FWD 1990 Laser M/T, 4g37, n/t, no ABS, no A/C, no C/C, etc. I swapped the 4g37 out for 4g63. The donor was a 1992 Eagle Talon, FWD, M/T, 6bolt 4g63, n/t, A/C, C/C, no ABS (I believe = 99.9%). I did a bit of electrical work to make the swapped 4g63 run. I got a lot of help from yous guys.
rewire 4G63 el. connectors to fit 4G37 connectors

The frame on the 1992 donor Talon collapsed from rust but everything else worked. I actually drove the car about 1/4 mile and it ran fine with no lights ON on the instrument panel. When I pulled the engine out of the Talon, obviously I had to take the axles out, and had not noticed any ABS wires or sensors nor any extra brake lines, ABS pump or anything like that under the hood. Thus, I am 99.9% this car had no ABS brakes.

The last piece of the swap was yanking the 1990 instrument cluster out and replacing it with the 1992 Talon cluster. As soon as I turned the key ON, the ABS light came ON and stays ON now permanently.

I'd like to get rid of the ABS light.

I know some of you funny ladies will suggest I get a black electrical tape to match the cluster backdrop and tape over it. I could do that.
Or I could yank the cluster out (yet again) and take the light bulb out. That's a possibility too.

Needless to say, I'd like to turn the ABS light OFF like a pro

Anyone would know where the ON/OFF switch is?

Somehow, one of these paths has power. Note that the ABS light on the combination meter (gauge cluster) gets power from the junction box (J/B) and is grounded via the ABS control unit at pin 25, or goes on to the other page and can be grounded at pin 22.

I'm assuming that there is no ABS control unit in the car, so that means that it is getting grounded some other way.

Thank you for the diagram. What caught my attention was the C54 connector but then I realized I rewired C58 and C67 (see link above) and not C54. And I would imagine that 10A fuse would also likely protect other components, not just the ABS, so pulling the fuse would not work that great.
The engine harness came with the 4g63 but had to be mated to the 1990 interior harness. The C67 had odd wiring, like ... the 1990 harness had a black with red stripe wire on pin #4 which is used for M/T - 2.0L Turbo Boost Gauge (gauge cluster pin 6) to ECU pin 3. I transferred this wire, although I dont have a turbo or a cluster with a boost gauge, to pin #9. There could be some other incompatibilities but I would bet it's getting ground from the engine harness; however, not necessarily via C67 or C58. But it's a possibility, especially since some leads from the C67 go into the gauge cluster.

Thanks for the additional diagram. Quick question re the ABS diagrams - are they for the 1990-91 models or 1992-1994? The reason I am asking is that there were changes b/w years 1990 and 1992; not substantial but enough ... I have seen other diagrams in this section of the forum that made this exact distinction and were the reason for incompatibility.

If you could find C45, C68, or C73 - you could de-pin the appropriate wire out of there and be done. But since you're mixing harnesses with a '90, it totally could be getting grounded somewhere funky.

This was from a '93.

The C68 is the "instrument panel wiring harness and engine compartment wiring harness combination" and is located on the driver side where the fuse box is
The 1990 Engine COMPARTMENT Wiring Harness
The other ones...C45 and C73...? Not sure. I think I'll go with what the smart ladies suggested for now and tape over the ABS light so it stops annoying me :coy:

Hahaha, yeah tape always works. I'm sure you could just pull the bulb, too!

Or, pull the wire on Pin 5 of C68. That should do it.
