I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

I would return the car to bone stock and sell it that way. You will get much more money and you can sell those nice aftermarket parts separately for a large chunk of cash as well.

Doing this any other way is not an option in my opinion, unless you don't like money.

Thanks, kind of in a pickle though. I have no money and I can no longer work on her myself.

That low of miles wouldn't make me pay any extra for it. It's still an 18 year old car. Rubber lines/hoses/seals/trim dry out. That low of mileage would lead me to believe the odometer is wrong, unless I personally knew you.

I had a dealership redo all the engine seals a few years back, and I have the Vin posted in adds for Carfax look ups.

Same thing, that low of mileage with that many mods will kill the resale value. If the car was bone stock i think 18k would be a fair price.

Every modification comes with an equal and opposite drive ability problem

Thanks, kind of in a pickle though. I have no money and I can no longer work on her myself. What do you think is a good price as is?

It's a shame how much the going rate for these cars has declined. If you can put the car back in the same condition it rolled off the showroom floor you'll catch the eye of a collector somewhere with some cash. Not sure what you should ask, but a general rule of thumb with cars, mods kill value. Especially on very low milage cars like yours.

Thanks, kind of in a pickle though. I have no money and I can no longer work on her myself.

Most buyers are the same way so they aren't going to "want" a car that needs work.

I would list it in eBay with as many pictures possible of the car inside and out, atleast 10 exterior photos, atleast 8 interior photos, 6 photos under the hood, 4 photos of the under side of the car. Pictures of the window sticker and your stacks of receipts (not necessarily of the information just to show the quantity and that you have them)

Start bidding at 10k with a reserve of 18k or best offer and see what kind of nibbles you get.

Thank you for the advise. I will have to change my post there up a bit I guess.

If I had the money I would keep her and drop another $20k-$30k in her, in the form of Magnus Motorsports built 4g63 and other goodies. I never planned on having to sell her.

With that $25k price, there are lots of other choices for buyers to go for. Like new civics, accords, barely used Lexus, barely used WRX's, Evo's. You'd only get that price if there is someone with load of money and wanting to add the car to his/her collection. If you bring it to a dealer to trade it in for a new car, they'd give you $6-8k max. People here say $18k is fair but I doubt anyone would pay more than $12k, if that. Hate to break it to you but it's the cold truth. You should keep it if you still love it cuz you won't be able to find another one in the future.

New to the forum and found a 1998 GSX for sale.
I am wondering if this is priced right or what the value is and about the high miles on it.
Has 189,000 miles but been well maintained.
Here are some of the mods...
Mods include- 16g, CAI, header, FMIC, GM-MAF, Uego/boost gauge, 190 Walbro with re-wire, 17in wheels, BOV, A/C, boost controller, timing belt/tensioner/pulley was done 500 miles ago
Strut towers have been redone
Asking $3800. .
Attached are a few pictures.
Is it priced right and what about the miles?
Thanks

Owner has a lift so that won't be a problem to check under it. Do the miles scare you if maintained ? What about price? Thanks again

I would just expect to drop at least 1k on all new OE control arms, new hubs/bearings, new bushings all the way around at least. Shit, all my bushings were toast at 80k miles.

if you never had a dsm before mileage doesn't mean that much. What's important is there wasn't a string of idiots that owned the car before it got to you and unfortunately no good way to figure that out until you start digging into the car. Buying a dsm is a lot like picking a chocolate from a box of chocolates LOL

Meh, If the car drives well and has been maintained then it's a reasonable deal. My car has 190K on it but it has virtually everything on it replaced. This car may not have anything replaced.

Hi guys,

I'm curious how much my eclipse is worth. I recently won it an an auction and I'm wondering if I got a good deal. Here is all I know about the car.

1996 GS with 16g turbo
85,000 miles
Aftermarket clutch and pressure plate.. idk the brand, but pressure plate is red color
Koni adjustable shocks
Red lowering springs ( lettering weathered off, so dont know the brand)
Walborow fuel pump
Hahn management system?
5 speed
Clean body with no rust
Paint is in very good condition, little but if clear cote fade on the roof
Greddy blowoff
Greddy midpipe and exhaust
Sparco pedals
Momo gear shifter with cover
Street glow neon light kit outside and in
Alpine old school stereo
Two independent camps for a sub and speakers
Sway bars in front and rear
Massive wing
Side skirts
2g bumper, lip and headlights
I am not sure if engine was rebuilt or built.. I do hear something simular to piston slap when I just fire up the car, but as engine warms up, the slap goes away ‍♂️

The car runs very string and reliable. Trans is smooth. Engine runs steady under 8psi..

If attached few pictures.

Any feedback greatly appreciated..

Thanks

That's a nice turboed 420a! Paint looks pretty good in these pictures. Can't say much about the 420a but it looks like a good start if you want to continue modifying it, or even just maintain it.
You are asking if you got a good deal, which no-one can speak to unless you want to say what you paid for it. On a similar note, how much do you care about your feelings?

Thaks for feedback and appreciate the opinion.

I was not planning to buy the car, I saw it going at the auction and it was just so clean and taken care of that I had to buy it. I know it's not the gsx or gst, but who ever owned it took care of it.

It's just such a cool looking car that I had to buy it.

For now I am figuring out rims and seats situation. Looking for wheels that I would really like on the car and set of nice red seats to compliment the car
