So my current setup is
Walbro 450 in tank
-6 lines from tank to rail
Fuel lab 818 filter with stainless element
FIC 1650s
Aeromotive afpr
Fuel injector clinic fuel rail
Ethonal sensor

So I went to the dyno with my hx40 and at 27psi over 7500 rpm the a/f started leaning out. So my tuner says that my pump is maxed out on e85.

So I'm trying to figure the best way to upgrade my fuel pump. Not necessarily looking for the cheapest. Just looking for the easiest, best way.

My thoughts so far are
1-Radium surge tank with 2 walbro pumps
2-leave the walbro 450 in tank and add one or two pumps inline
3-new walbro 525 intank pump and one external pump inline with a Hobbs switch

Or maybe there's other ways that I'm not aware of.
I would just like to do this once and not outgrow my pump

I'm looking for around 650awhp on e85

Let me know if there's other options or how your fuel system is setup

Thanks
Brian

Drop in the 525 and see how far it takes you. should be close to your goal. If not throw one the inline with switch.

my setup is similar to yours and i had issues with the wally 450 as well. i went with a magnafuel mp-4303 pump. on e85 its good up to about 1200hp. youd be better off finding a good single pump instead of dealing with multiples.

If you don't mind at what horsepower was it maxed out at?

You can always back off on the ethanol content IMO. I run e55 with a 60mm HX40 and get 40psi out of it. Any more ethanol and I start leaning out as well. After e50 or so you dont really see much benefit anyways.

Yeah I'd rather only use one pump if I can. There's too much room for error with multiple pumps. At least with one pump, if it fails you should know right away.
I'll look into the magnafuel.
Thanks for the info!!!

I'm actually only at around e70. It's very hard to find anything higher than that by me.

if you decide on the magnafuel theres a write up that @v8s_are_slow did on his magnafuel install on his 2g.

I would think you should get way more from a 450 than 546hp. Are you sure the pump is sealing correctly? Using the OEM o ring setup has been known to leak fuel at higher pressure.

Also, there are two versions of the 450. The low pressure and high pressure version. The HP version would be better suited for higher boost obviously. I accidentally bought the LP. Also, I've read you can do a DIY mod on the pump to get even more flow and higher boost levels.

ive personally have had nothing but issues with a few wally 450s. ive had two on my car completely take a dump within a year of buying them new.

If you ever run them dry it kills them.
never ran dry or low just for that very reason. and it did have 93 ran through them periodically to lube things back up (ive since then switched to using top lube in the ethanol). when the pump started dying out this last time it wasnt very noticeable then got worse in a matter of a couple months. we got the car to shootout and it seemed to want to kind of lay over on the big end of the track. then the week after it died and would start dropping pressure after it got warm going into boost

I'm pretty sure I have the high pressure pump. I'm like 99% sure it's the high pressure one

I would look at your injector duty cycle. If your dc is too high then perhaps turning up the pressure may work but you stated your tuner says you're out of pump. I imagine your guy took that into account when he made that statement.

I'm not sure how to check if the pump is sealing correctly.
The best way is to datalog fuel pressure. If you are not seeing a 1:1 rise in pressure with boost its a dead giveaway. You can also get a sneak peak by unsealing the assembly and pulling it out about an inch and watch it during idle. You will see it leaking easily.

Cool Thanks for the info!

Has anyone fit the 525 pump in a 2G pickup assembly yet?
