Simple question really, and I searched but didn't find that his has really been covered, but after a building a right proper DSM, have you ridden in another car that was supposed to be FAST, whether it be a V6, V8, V10 or even a turbo 4 of another brand and went MEH, uhhh ok its kind of quick but its not FAST!!

Asking for a friend.. :D :aha:

My car being fairly mild, it's much faster than some comparably modded turbo 4s. Friend with an 09 mini (I know...) that has essentially the same bolt ons I do and a "pro" tune is pretty weak. Granted, it's a 1.6, but I was pretty unimpressed with his 20psi vs my rough tunes 20psi 14b. Same thing with most vw 1.8ts, just alot to be desired.
My roomy has an 01 lightning that's well modded (in the middle of a new motor rebuild) and at around 500whp it's fun, but kinda yawny. Needs about 2-300 more, hence the new motor build.
My friends mk2 supra however, that thing is filthy. Granted hes putting down ~700whp on a bw 37x something through an auto trans, built 7mgte, in a very well sorted chassis.

I rode in my friends 2011 Mustang (Coyote) with a single 76mm turbo, 6 speed, 1000rwhp+. It was like nothing I had ever felt before. Think of how a 42R DSM would feel like on boost, with the response of a 14B or 16G. :)

I also rode in a friend's Dodge Stealth with twin Subaru stock turbos instead of the 9Bs and that was a torque monster. Displacement is awesome with a turbo.....LOL. Never listen to anyone who says otherwise.

muscle cars are common out here. Lt1s to old style 350 SBCs and of course LSx in all variety. the well built ones will absolutely pin you to the seat, for 30 to 60 foot. as soon as they get passed the initial launch they just feel like someone pitched an anchor out the trunk. And the truck builds around here are even worse due to their weight. ( though launching a built mud truck in 4x4 low on the t-case is fun...for the same 60 foot)

my 2g GST with a 14b and good tires could launch good enough to stay up by the f-bodies rear bumper then past 60 foot i would real them in and just flat keep going. hopefully i get my 1g AWD car done this winter. one of my buddies has a nice chevelle and he HATES getting whooped by 4 bangers.

final note: the LSx and LT builds are astronomical in price, and rarely make it to 500hp. the 350 SBC guys actually spend less for the same HP but they always end up in 2 ton cars with steel wheels and no suspension work. so the price for fun factor is about 10x leaning to the DSM, in my opinion anyway.

I had a Focus RS that I thought would be a good successor to my GSX. All that I really need to say is that I sold the Focus and now I'm back in the DSM community.

I am underwhelmed with the performance of the C7 Grand Sport, but I haven't driven a DSM in almost four years so I won't really comment on the comparison between the two. If my turbo ever gets installed in my GSX it would be fun to do a side-by-side, though. The E92 M3 is just as underwhelming as the Integra R, but picking on them is so easy that it makes me feel bad.
