Hey guys,

So I’ve been dealing with this issue for a long time! When I first start my car (97 spyder gs) it idles at like 1500-1800rpm and the belt squeals. Once the idle levels out to 700-1000, the belt stops squealing. But, if I don’t get the idle to even out before I drive away. The belt continues to squeal until it can even itself out....

The alternator is slightly off alignment of the belt... the bolt is seized on there..so it’s ben an issue to adjust. Idk if thats the main cause? Or possibly tps? Idle control? Idk.

Also, it will bog down sometimes when taking off from a stop.

The high idle is normal on start-up, when the motor is cold. It sounds like it comes down after the motor heats up. All normal.
The belt squeal can be annoying. My car does this, too (1g). I have tightened the belt to a point beyond tight enough, and it still squeals. Usually I can rev it up a few times and the squeal goes away. I suspect a new belt would clear it up, but I am a cheap ass.
A leaky power steering pump can dribble fluid in the belt area, as well, causing noisy belt.
