I had a long drawn out opening post but my computer shut down before I could post it. I'll try updating this back to when we first bought the car almost 10 years ago. For now here's some progress pictures of what the car has turned into.

The Red car is a buddies car that I AWD swapped and built as well.

The black car is/has always been an autox/daily. It's currently on a s16g, VRSF, 1120CC FIC's, thermal R&D turbo back exhaust, with an FP intake and speed density on an evo ecu. The suspension is D2 coilovers, poly bushings throughout, with 18x9 +29 Advan RG2's with a 235/40 tire, it also has evo brembos front/back and a 3g master cylinder. My girlfriend autox'ed this car for 4 years stock before we decided to AWD swap it. It hasn't been out for an event since the swap, but I'm hoping this year the car will be in a place that I feel comfortable/confident in it's race ability. We've taken the car to west coast MOD 2 times now since the AWD swap. It still has all the creature comforts- cruise, AC, full stereo system, and a full interior. It's a very comfortable cruiser that we're hoping with some better coilovers, wider tires, and some chassis improvements will be a very competitive SM car in our local NASA/SCCA groups.

Thanks guys!

I don't normally get a lot of time to work on this car, but I had some free time this weekend. We've never had problems with the car overheating even running the VRSF with AC and 115F temps, but I knew once the car is back on the track airflow would be an issue. I've been wanting to duct the front end for quite some time and finally got around to doing so this weekend. The front bumper is completely sealed off to the intercooler. No airflow can go around the inlet without going through the intercooler, but behind the VRSF was a large opening on the bottom, sides, and top. This took about 6 hours in total to build, but the intercooler is not completely sealed to the AC condenser which is completely sealed to the radiator forcing all the air coming in the bumper inlet to go through the radiator. The only spot that air can escape from is between the hood latch where I had to notch the top cooling plate. The area is small and its technically above/in front of the path of air coming out of the intercooler so it should have a minimal effect at worst. The plan is to put a vented hood on the car sooner than later and the hood latch assembly will be deleted for hood pins anyways, allowing me to seal it off completely. I don't have any completed pictures as it's pretty much impossible to see with the bumper plate bolted in, but the raw pictures are a good representation of how its fitted.

Ordered some more parts for this car. Picked up a super cheap JMF street SMIM. I was looking for an evo 3 mani when this popped up for a great deal. It was pretty beat up cosmetically. Spent some time polishing it and it turned out a lot better than it started. We’re going to have the JMF logo engraved deeper/wider and then color fill the logo to match the car. Once that’s done, on it goes!

Spent a night on this car finally. Swapped out the FIC1120's for high Z ID1000's, dialed them in enough to drive. Ended up putting more miles on the car in 2 days than I have in 2 years cruising it around. Took it out to look at another spyder for a buddy he ended up taking home. This is just such a great cruiser this time of year.

Beautiful car. Those Advans are very nice. What offset are you running on those? +35? I have a set of OG TE37 17x9 +15 that I was going to run under some overfenders but I have decided against it. I much prefer OEM body lines nowadays.

Looking at your car makes me regret mine is a coupe LOL
The drop top is nice, but I do miss my 2g coupes at times. I don't drive this one in the rain anymore but the dripping window seals aren't fun LOL

Theyre 18x9 +29. I test fit my 17x9 +22s on this car off my evo and they would've needed some major camber to even remotely fit, I too couldn't bring myself to do overfenders either.

Put a set of HKS 264/272's in the car a few weeks ago. We're in the process of retuning my evo 8 right now and then this goes in for it's tune. Looks like we're probably going to miss out on this years race season before summer comes and it's too hot to race. Hopefully come fall we can start racing this car again.

I got one of my good buddies to pick up this absolute beater 260k, used and abused GST spyder from a local for $600. It's got bullet holes, the tops absolutely non existent, the suspension is some china lowering springs on blown stock struts, the engine is basically stock in who knows what kind of shape. He spent 3 weeks swapping a good trans in the car, cleaning it and getting it running. The headgasket started pushing oil out the corner the week before the track day so the friday night before we slapped the cheapest china headgasket I had laying around from an ebay gasket kit into the car, reused everything we possibly could and took it on a 20 mile test drive the day before going on an 80 mile trip to the road course. With fresh advan apex 245 tires and virtually nothing else 3 of us flogged the car all day long out there. My buddy ended the day with a PB of 66.0 with me .1 behind him. My C5 vette on a 305 220TW tire and a pretty well setup road course suspension went 65.6 here. Everyone seems to think they need all these parts to go race. The only real issue we had was both other drivers were boiling the brake fluid, but I had no issues and I ran after them. The evo went 62.4 on the 10lb wastegate setting for comparison.

The black spyder is another local's that we couldnt' convince to race.

We picked up an AWD donor for the green spyder over the weekend and it had a carbon evo style hood. I told my buddy I'd buy some parts off the donor to help recoup some cash back, the hood being one of them. It was either this or an AB hood, and I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on an AB hood after trying to get fender and bumper gaps aligned on the last one I installed.

I was having a lean condition in boost after the last run of SD roms I flashed on, in an effort to diag a setup vs mechanical issue I went back to a MAF tune and lean condition gone and the car pulls like an animal now. Just need to go back in and make sure SD was setup right and turn the boost back up. Race day on easter next and were hoping to have the green spyder AWD swapped for it along with a bunch of fresh goodies from the donor.
