I finally broke down and bought all the PROPER tools to blueprint an engine which led me to recording some measurements in excel. Long story short I kept adding measurements and basic formulas till I realized I pretty much had everything needed for a basic bottom end rebuild. Being a firm believer in checklists, I realized this could be used as a list for someone who is concerned they may miss something or maybe they don't know what to measure at all and this is a quick summary vs googling and going through ten forum posts.

There could be 10,000 spreadsheets like this floating around for all I know and I could be wasting my time but I figured I would drop by here and offer it up to the general public in the event someone wants to save it or print it out and use it next time they build a motor. It is not pretty. It is not smart. It is not anything special period. Hell its not even printer friendly. Its just some basic charts that are cleaner than writing on the nearest piece of paper and using a calculator on your phone with greasy fingers.

If there seems to be a general interest in using this, I am willing to clean it up and add anything anyone more experienced than me feels needs to be added. I haven't built an engine in a few years so I just started making this off memory and got to this point. Right now I'd like to see a few things listed below but I'm also lazy to the extent that I am aware all of this is floating around the internet and I'm not currently looking for it.

Places to record bolt torques.
List of torque specs JUST FOR FASTENERS RELATIVE TO THE ENGINE
Bolt stretch
Part number list for all the small parts you cant remember like wrist pin locks or Maybe comprehensive list of all gaskets/Misc parts required

Like I said if this thread perks up with some interest I'll go further into detail explaining everything and making it clearer. Just let me know what yall think.

That's incredibly nice compared to what my shop gives LOL. The shop I use builds some of the best late model dirt track motors for people around the nation and they blueprinted my last block on 3 pages of scratch paper with phone numbers and other notes on them.

Apex is prob best machine shop in my state I guess bill has even done machine work for boostin from what I’ve been told. And let me say they were amazing knew far more about 4g63’s then any other shop ive ever been too. Downfall was block took about 3 months and about a month on the head.

I use something similar for different motors, AERA has something nice to go by.
Wonderful effort on your part, I am sure it will be very useful to a lot of people, maybe I will replace mine with yours since it is more complete.
Thanks for your contribution.

I like the macro programming. I write them too, and although mine is a bit different, they do the same thing. Good job on the little things that others might not appreciate!

Thanks man. I actually know how to make userforms and i've written a few basic programs in VBA, I just didn't feel like taking this that far when its all basic stuff. The more I mess with this the more I'd like to make a one stop, everything you need in one spreadsheet ordeal when assembling an engine though. So far I've added a list of taps needed to tap out all the threads on the block and a few of the main torque specs pulled from the torque spec thread on here. The main problem is I'm not an artistic individual. I can make excel do the math, I just cant make it pretty LOL.
