All,

So yesterday everything worked fine. I drove the car, passed state inspection, life was great. I woke up this morning to go to work and now have nothing in the back and no gauge lights. I did nothing but park the car overnight.

I'm kinda baffled because I believe the brake lights and tail lights don't really share a single circuit.
I do know that the Tail and Gauge lights share the same circuit.
My rear turn signals do work.

If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it. This car is my current DD until I can get we get my wife's care back from the body shop.

Well to add to this,

Checked all the bulbs in the back. One had some medium corrision so I cleaned it and put it back in. Checked that the #6 grounding point was good and it all looks mint. Pulled the radio and everything back there looks fine. So I pulled my front pumper off and checked the fuses. 1 Relay and 2 fuses totally blown. Not really sure what caused this.

I remember yesterday my radio turned off and back on while driving home after getting it inspected. Something must have hit a grounding wire point that these lights share is my only thought. I really don't have any idea.

Still looking for ideas so I can prevent this from happening in the future. Thanks!

I started pulling and testing relays and I have a bunch bad and some corrosion in the terminals. I have enough to run the car but barely. Need to order some more. Cleaned all the terminals up and sprayed down with corrosion prevention. Also, due to the way my radio randomly turned off I re-did all of my wiring. No more wire T's. Everything goes straight to a power source. I also put the radio on its own ground point and the other two grounds under the dash at a different point. I really hope this helps with the problem.

Guess we will see tomorrow how it works in the morning.

Heads up to find the solution grab a big box of fuses and un plug all of your exterior lights. Put a new fuse in and put the bulbs in one at a time until you blow the fuse

Mine did the same thing and it ended up being the tail light harness was pinched under the foam gasket where the tail light bolts into the back of the car

Had the same issue, my turn signal harness was pinched and grounding out when i hit bumps.

Check your sun visor map light for rubbing to ground, in fact I would unplug both of them for now to be on the safe side, they eventually wear through and rub the body.

I think something in my car grounded out and blew the taillights, brake lights, window, and high beam fuses all at once. I'm not sure what caused it but I have a cracked power wire on my fan harness that might have done it. I will repair that today as well. I've tucked my harness so everything is in the front passenger inner fender all together.

I checked all the wiring I could find in the back and everything was mint (the harness back there is only a couple years old).

Lol thats literally the only thing my wife likes about my car. I'm going to recover the headliner soon so I'll re-loom these wires thanks for the idea! I don't think this is the problem as I blew a bunch more things than just one set of lights I have found out.

That tail light fuse controls all lights that are triggered by the accessory light switch aka head light switch. So it's just one problem which is normally all external bulbs and wires because the internal wires don't get damaged randomly

Correct, however the Tail Lights don't run through that fuse.

I also apparently blew the A/C fusible link. I now believe I know what happened. My fusebox is tucked up under the front pass fender. During Hurricane harvey, I had to drive through water trying to get my car to a parking garage so it wouldn't flood. At the time I was so focused on saving my family and the few possessions that mean something to me that I forgot about it. After Harvey, I took the car down for awhile to do some things that I wanted to do (tuck the wiring harness, fix some leaks, etc etc. Now that I just got it running, all of my relays that were wet shorted out taking the fuses / fusible links with them.

Anyway, that is my theory. I'm on day three now DD'ing the car with no issues after I cleaned all the corrosion, replaced with all new relays, and put dielectric grease over everything.

Yeah the tail lights run off of the tail light fuse off of the headlight switch. The brake lights run off of the brake light switch by the pedal.
