--Pick this Shell/Car from one of our members here after having lots of rust/rot issues with my spyder which was bought as a project to build.
--This will be my build thread and yes will be slow build kind of, due to Time/Funds restrictions for the remainder of 2017.
--Any suggestions and critics welcome, open to opinions!

-On to the car this shell is basically rust free, just had a small area of surface rust near Brake/clutch master cylinder area due to spilled fluids.
-Plans for this shell is a nice street car with daily driving capabilities, I already have a freshly built motor sitting in stand, but will get to that later on in this build!

Bay cleaning:
So far I've started working on cleaning the bay, although time is very limited with just 2hrs a day and not to bright being I only have available from 7pm-9pm and with cold weather coming it makes it difficult.

I stripped down the bay, removed:
*A/C line leftovers
*Power steering system
*ABS system- (Will be replace by a STM kit)
*Removed Brake Booster/Master cylinder (To clean minor rust area)
*Removed Firewall Matt
*Removed Engine harness to do a wire tuck. (Will cover that later down the road)

I already took care of the minor rust amd partially primed it until I get ready to finish the bay, which I will be sanding some spots and painting it.

Before:

After: Still not done, but what I have been able to do so far!

Engine bay close to finish!! Had some good weather today and gave me enough time to clean, sand and paint the bay.

*The paint in the pictures look look brighter then in person for some reason, but I like the close to finish product. Need to do my radiator suport which I will be doing in the coming week.

Now with the correct Paint code (A52) the engine bay is complete. Next will be removing the bumper to do the whole radiator support as well!:

Thanks! @eclipse gsx.

Motor:
The motor is for the most part done, just not mated to the head yet as I have it inside the house due to not wanting to leave it exposed to humidity.

It is going to be a 2.3 Stroker and parts are as follow:
Block:
-93 Eclipse 7-bolt block
-4G64 crank
-Ross Stroker Pistons 9.0:1 CR .030
-Manley H-Tuff rods
-ARP Main/Head/Rod bolts/studs
-ACL Race Main bearings
-Clevitte Rod bearings (Considering changing them before installing the motor)
-ACL oil pump
-BS Delete
-New Gates waterpump
-Oem OFH (Might change over to a Evo 9 one, as my Turbo setup will require custom work)

Cylinder Head:
-6-Bolt head
-3 angle valve job
-Resurfaced for Cometic gasket
-Manley springs w/ Titanium Retainers
-Oem Valves
-Cam (Don't have one yet, Considering a FP3X or Kelford 276/272 High Lift)

Induction:
-Magnus Intake Manifold
-S90 Throttle body
-VRSF Short Route intercooler

Turbo:
I had bought this turbo a while back for a build on another car which never happened, so now will be using it on this build and see how it perform. Don't really know much about it, but will try it and see the outcome.
-Turbo is a T4-Flange Garrett T61 Blowzilla

Those are the parts I currently have, more updates to come soon!!!

Transmission

Well picked up a used transmission which according to seller was rebuilt by "Mitsu" by it's previous owner, which he is not sure if it was as he didn't had paperwork as proof.

Did a small inspection and at least it goes into gears fine, also checked the shift lever shoe and is actually at .480 which leads me to believe was replaced as those get worned, so might have been rebuild but who knows.

Transmission itself was a bit dirty, so a little cleaning and painting never hurt anyone so here is the outcome!!

Now is up to next Saturday to see if everything is ready to be dropped in!!

Back to talon!! Plus valve cover pics

Well today got the car back to it's original shape and installed the talon rear which was removed by previous owners, but thankfully kept the original bumper with the car.

Glad to see no rust hiding here!

Thanks @chrysler kid, yes am planning to keep them on the car, but want to get the white paint off. I may have to send them to get powder coated. Am trying to get the car back to the way it used to look, so far need the twisties from a 95-96 talon.

This was the car back long time ago from one of it's PO, although not too low as roads in CT are awful.

Update:
The paint is a PITA to get off, but thanks to Rust-Oleum Aircraft Remover is on it's way!!

Ive had terrible luck with air craft stripper. It reeks, its a mess to remove, you end up slapping the scraper into the trash. Just nasty.

Id probably use a wire brush set on a drill and then prime and sand.

They also sell a pressure washer fitting to convert it to a pressure washer sand blaster, much cleaner to use with no dust

Engine/Transmission drop in:
Still a long way to go but happy to see some progress!!

Well haven't updated in a while as I haven't had much time to work in the car, yesterday drop the motor in although I couldn't put the transmission mount yet as I haven't received it from Maperformance.

I haven't taken much photos, on these the valve cover on it is not the one I will be using I just put this one for now to prevent foreign objects from entering the engine, is just that I know am going to have issues with my valve cover catch can fittings and will have to figure that one out in the meantime.

Within the upcoming week, I will be installing the harness, brake booster, master cylinder and intake parts.

This is the actual valve cover that is going to be used, it does touches the hood ahh, is not a lot though as I can completely close it but small dent is barely noticeable but is there from the boss touching hood. Am now am either going to have cut them and make them shorter or put a small spacer on the hood hinges as this hood is not going to be there long and I will be ordering a seibon carbon fiber one within a month or 2.

Also painted my brake booster same color as valve cover and installed the STM battery tray and Odyssey battery that came in the car.

Next on the list is, ordering the ABS delete with braided brake lines and Clutch master cylinder kit with braided ss line as well. Then start putting the harness.

There has been no update on the build as I have not been able to do anything else yet. I had broke my hand and now have a different position at work and have been real busy. Project will either be on pause for a long time or may consider selling it if I think will take too long to finish.

Edit: Build will continue and car will not be sold. I purchased a DNP t4 mani from one of our members and will soon continue with more updates on the build!!

Mounted the manifold today and test fitted the turbo. Yeah the cold side is on the driver side, am relocating the alternator and am not running P/S or Ac. Downpipe I will do a custom one already have the pieces for it. Also will be getting a Scirocco radiator as I had to order one anyways.

Thats awesome
Coming along nicely! The oem silver looks nice all fresh.

Thank you! Still have long way to go, but coming along good!!

Any particular reason you want to mount the turbo the opposite way?

Good question, but not really, since I was going to have the space in that area as the P/S was gone and Alternator was going to be relocated, I figured it would be a shorter route for the IC piping and have plenty of space for the downpipe in the other side as well.

Currently waiting on Radiator and wastegate, possibly next weekend will have more updates!

interesting. car is looking great. I'm glad you didn't give up. its been three years for me and I can see the light at the end. its going to be worth it!

Thanks and yeah that's what I thought. I've only had this one for almost a year and haven't really put much time on it, but yes will definitely be worth it.

You are going to have a tight turn in the o2 housing to tuck that back in to the exhaust tunnel and will have to go under the oil return line, your exhaust will be lower than your car. Honestly you aren't making the IC routing that much shorter but you will have a bigger headache with the exhaust.

I'm not knocking your build but just trying to help you avoid some obstacles down the road.
