I recently just finished my awd swap, using a kiggly 6 bolt in 2g auto kit. I installed it correctly, with the flexplate concaving towards the engine. On startup, i hear the torque conerter bolts hitting somethig and metal flakes flying out of the bell housing. Took the starter out, it is completly destroyed. No more teeth, and part of the starter itself was groud away. What the f&#k is going on?

90 6 bolt block
Kiggly kit
95 awd auto trans with awd converter
2g torque converter bolts
New pilot bushing
Used 2g awd auto starter plate as well

i have a 5spd starter on my auto and havent had any issues with it since the swap two years ago. seems like 2g's just have to be more complicated
Yes I was referring only to 2g cars. 1g may have interchangeable starters.

OP you need a auto starter. GST and gsx 2g auto are the same.

Edit: looking at the list in the link it looks like some part numbers are the same. I'd still verify what starter you have and get yourself a auto unit if you don't have one. I know for a fact that works because I'm currently driving my car.

Ok brother I’m going to order the one labeled MD 178511 A/T for application interchangeable for FWD or AWD these are the ones that cross reference in the system

Only thing I’m worried about is you have a awd converter where the teeth are different than fwd

Ok just put a auto unit in the car and motor still won’t turn over all you here is the starter clicking still..??? The manual starter has 1.7 kw vrs this one only having 1.2 kw not sure what the he’ll is going on I can spin the motor over by hand no problem no binding or metal to metal contact just can’t seem to get the right answer on what kind of starter I need or anything else

If you have tried both a manual and auto starter, it's time to consider it's something else.
-Have you measure the voltage at the end of the starter power wire?
-Test the trigger wire before and during the key being turned?
-Are you 100% sure the starter plate is correct?
-Flexplate installed correctly?
-Proper Ground?
-The teeth on the converter in good shape?

That's all I can think of if both starters are known to be good. Just shooting out some ideas.

The gear sits way lower for proper engagement thanks brother you were right. I just needed to hear it from someone using this exact set up I am and other than a factory flex plate spacer you have on the outside of the kiggly flywheel our set ups are the same so... So I was counting on you to be right since your obviously driving yours. Again thank you for all your help you were awesome bro with fast answers

Now for the fun part!!! Which ecu should I use on this set up? I run Ecm link V3 on my dsm but the customer is not wanting too spend as much money as that will cost him smh. I’ve been reading up on Ecuflash and have found out that the 98–99 black box can be flashed for this set up with the tantrix 2.0 adapter any thoughts? The car is only running a 14b turbo with stock 450cc injectors and stock fuel system. He is upgrading little by little but I want to make sure the drivability tune will be on point. Only thing that has been done is the new firing order for the spark plug wires. The rest of the ECU is a unmolested 2g automatic transmission Black box ECU

Why not just leave it a stock tune until he can afford ECMLink? ECMLink should be one of your first upgrades anyway. Turn the boost up to 15psi on the 14b until he has a way to tune.
About that stock tune.... I have to change the injector firing order as well with this 98 ecu black box correct? I haven’t road tested yet but car is running and ideling really good but I literally heard the injectors get pissed off a couple times when the car would rev past 2500 it would start to missfire and run like shit but then I just restart the car and all was well. After the car warmed up it would rev no problem with no hesitation and I still haven’t changed the injector firing order with the stock ecu so that’s next I’m assuming. I’m only asking you because you said to leave the stock tune and set to 15psi but I still need to change injector firing order right?

It is my understanding that installing a 97-99 ECU with the 1G CAS, you don't need to swap the spark plug wires nor the injector wires:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/1g-cas-with-2g-ecu.424571/

I would check your plugs and make sure your wires are in good shape to see if that is why you were missing above 2500.

Ok I was wondering why when I selected the type of ecu I was using it only showed the wiring for cas. What about pulling the ECU fuse when installing cas I did not do this... It states to not install 180 degree which I have not done it is installed TDC and it sounded to me like the injectors where not firing correctly but I did swap the coil pack wires which I will switch back now to stock 2g set up thanks you again

Yeah I read that from you the first time and said I will be swapping them back!!! My question is about pulling the ecu fuse when installing the cas if your going to answer real short with exclamations and not even answer the whole question then just don’t answer at all plz

Well damn, someone is a little snappy this morning. Ever heard the saying, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"? But here, since you feel like being spoon fed and unappreciative:

Just disconnect the battery if you are worried about it, I never have had an issue with needing to. I tried to find a thread about disconnecting the battery but no luck.
