Just bought a 95 eagle talon tsi awd (4g63t) and it has a problem with the oil pressure on stock gauge. It will climb to the top cold and when it’s warm it will drop to the middle of the gauge. But when I drive it while it’s warm it will climb back up again. I changed the oil to 10w30 and replaced the valve cover gasket and after that this started to happen.. need help ASAP pls

I'm mildly confused... You're concerned that you have oil pressure? It's normal for oil pressure to be higher on a cold start and then to level out. It's also normal for oil pressure to increase as RPMs increase.

Am I missing something here?

No the oil pressure will be on max line. When it’s cold. But when I let it idle it will drop down to normal but when I drive it for 5m it will go extremely high.

Ok. When you changed the oil, was a new filter installed as well? Also, what was the condition of the old oil?
yes I changed the oil first with 5w30 at first and put a new oil filter and it was too thin of oil and the oil would drop and barely gain pressure. So I changed it to 10w30 and left the new filter that had 5w30 in it. So I just swapped the oil from 5w to 10w. But the oil that was in it when I bought it was black and it was missing 2 1/2 litres.

Ok, so you went from one 30 weight oil to another 30 weight oil. That alone isn't going to drastically change oil pressure as you're describing.

It's likely your oil system is full of sludge. You can try an oil system cleaner, may or may not help. I've used ATF in the past as an oil system cleaner with decent success. Drain all of the oil, fill it with ATF, run the car for 5 minutes, drain the ATF and put a new filter on.

Could also just be a bad sensor though..

I will give it a try, but it’s just weird bc when I first bought the car the oil was bad but the pressure gauge was fine but ever since I put new oil and filter the pressure changed.

Get your self a real oil pressure gauge, I found my factory gauge to be horribly inaccurate. Also depending on what mods you have done that tie into the oiling system can effect how much pressure you will see.

I have no mods done but I’ve been think of putting an oil pressure gauge

If you do decide to get a oil pressure gauge don't cheap out, I've made the mistake of using cheap gauges that are just as bad as the factory gauge.

Price can vary a lot, $150+. Depends on what brand, style, and other functions you want. I personally use the innovate motorsports MTX-D duel function oil pressure and temp, extreme psi has them for $186. I have had no issues with it.

There are good forums on here with good info on gauges for just about any brand you want.

Another vote for innovate, I have the same gauge set, love it and it works awesome. But I would remote mount the sensor, my first one went erratic after being mounted directly to the OFH.

Remote mounting is a VERY good idea. Anything hanging off of the OFH tends to vibrate a lot and we broke a gauge sending unit up there on my sons car so we always remote mount the units now!
