Exact shaft from my build.

So bad news. The GSC shaft is on national backorder for 10 weeks at least. I can't wait that long and really do not want to use the stub shaft.

Is the shop that turned your shaft down still around? I can't find anyone near me that has the ability to do it. Probably because it needs balanced. Im going to keep calling around but if not I hope I can ship it to wherever you had yours done.

Yea he's still around, but he's backed up a few weeks with seasonal race engine builds. You could always check with the other shop I use:
Northwest Machine
3414 W Industrial Loop,
Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815

Ask for Tosh. Or I could get a shaft machined and send it to you, not sure what a rush job would cost, but lmk.

Edit: check with AMS, they have them for sale still. LINK

Thanks! I'll give AMS a call on Tuesday and see if they have any or can do it. If not then I will definitely be in touch with you.

So looking for info on my oil pump dilemma I found this thread. I was going to do the ACL/Orbit oil pump with straight cut gears out of my OEM pump like the OP wanted to do. I put the straight cut gears in the acl pump and bolted the cover back on. I go to turn it by hand and man its not freely turning without giving my some resistance. I took the cover back off to look and it must be real tight in there because I have some scuffing on the cover from just turning it by hand.

I really don't want to use the helical gears since I have a stub shaft. Not saying I cant but most seem to agree that I should use straight cut with a stub shaft. I almost want to use the OEM case again even though I have a scratch mark I can feel with my finger nail but im pretty sure its there because the gear wasn't deburred. Other then the scratch in the oil pump case the case is within spec after checking it with a feeler gauge.

A: should I just reuse my OEM case that's within spec with some scratching with my straight cut gears and stub shaft?

OR

B: Go ahead and use the new ACL/ORBIT case with the helical gears and the stub shaft?

I guess I can do the OEM cover. This is my first time opening up a oil pump case so im not sure what I can get away with when it comes to scratches in there. I haven't seen what higher mileage cases look like and I wonder how many people out there just reuse a oil pump case in such condition. It kind of boggled my mind when I seen that the gears just ride against the case like that.

They don't ride against the case, they have a layer of oil between them and the case. All used cases have minor scratches from dry starts, if it was making good oil pressure in the car it came from there is no reason that it wont continue to make good oil pressure again.

I had the helical gears and stub shaft for a long time. Started racing/time trialing in more recent years. Took the motor apart over winter for a refresh and discovered my oil pump was just about ready to devastate my motor.

This shaft, holy cow.
I would like to know if this made any noise that you could notice, when it was running with this shaft. Screeching on cold starts or anything like that.
