Hey everyone I'm looking for some insight on this. I had to get a new crank timing plate because my old one was slightly bent. So I got the new one in today took the timing belt off etc put the new plate on and redid the timing. After all is done it went smooth and followed my 1992 manual step by step. When I was following the part when you turn the engine over 6 full times wait 15 mins and come back and slide the pin back in the auto tensioner and it should slide in with ease well it'll only make it through the first hole and the auto tensioners hole but won't go through the other side. What would cause this ?

So would you recommend I redo timing then ? And when the tension is correct the pin should slide in and out with ease ?

Yes the tensioner pin should be 100% free. No resistance. The two holes usually are at about 12 o'clock.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of when it wouldn't slide back in fully. I just took a pic of how the holes are aligned I know it's dark but that's the best I could get right now. You think it's what Steve said as well that it's to far in and over tensioned

As long as the timing marks are correct you only need to retension the belt with the tensioner pully. If you have the tool for it you can loosen the bolt release a little tension until the pin fits and moves freely and retighten the bolt. Repeat the 6 turns and wait process with potentially retensioning if it's still not right until it is.

Don't pull the pin until your sure it's right.

Okay Steve thank you so much for the advice and tips I will redo in the Am and make sure I get it correct
