Hey all,

I'm in the process of working on putting my rear end back together. Since it's out, I figure now is the best time to install a sway bar. But having been soo long since I've driven the car and the fact that it'll be a totally different animal, I could use some help making the choice.

My profile is not updated as the car isn't finished yet and plans keep changing. But in the rear I have done RTM poly subframe and moustache bushings, evo 3 mechanical lsd diff, upper and lower control arm bushings, and 3kgt vr4 trailing arms. I don't have coilovers at the moment, but my eyes are set on the Ohlins by mueller.

I don't know if the front plays a role, but the front just got some LCA poly bushings and modified to fit a taller ball joint to correct roll center( I should probably do the same in the rear?)

My plans is to street the car every weekend or so and road course. I know ideally we want the cars neutral, eliminating understeer. As I understand it, the evo rear helps with that a lot. I'm not sure what kind of effect the wider track from the vr4 arms will have.

Im looking for help/suggestions as to which route to go. Adjustability is a must for fine tuning. I know there is whiteline, ST, RM sway bars... what else is there? Any first hand experience?

Thank you all in advance!

Go with the Whiteline bar. It has 3 positions for adjustability and is thicker than the RM bar. While I don't have experience with wider suspension arms, I do have the same mechanical diff, poly everywhere and active toe eliminators. Get the Mueller Ohlins....you wont be disappointed. Well your wallet maybe.

I run FEALS and after market upper and lower LCA's along with a ST Sway Bar, no complaints here.. Unless you are planning on racing competitively, the Ohlins are too pricey in my book, you can get FEALS for 1/2 that and IMHO they are the best bang for the buck when looking at Coil-Overs for our platform..

Interesting. I have a whiteline rear sway bar from the Mofugas Galant and it only has a single connection point on each end. I think the end links allow for some adjustability, but there aren't multiple mounting holes.

On a 1g its very difficult to position the rear sway bar link at a different hole on the bar itself. Thats why most rear bars come with only 1 mounting hole. The bar link itself is very very short and has very little pivoting angle side to side. Therefore even if you had multiple holes on the bar, the link won't be able to reach.

My personal experiance, Ive been road racing mine for a few year now, I had RM 15/16" bar and the car felt very neutral with my alignment setup on the road course. At autox, i needed stiffer because of very sudden transitions so the car understeered at times.
This year I upgraded to ST 1" bar and I had to tame down the alignment specs and the rear shock adjustments because she was wayyyy too tail happy.
Based on what you use the car for, bigger is not always better and lots of adjustments will be needed to dial in any setup

PS, i still have my old RM bar if youre interested pm me
