I have a 93 Eagle Summit Wagon DL with a 1.8L 4G93, auto trans and FED emissions. My sliding door is stuck in the closed position and the latch housing is not flush with the door (on the door side). Nothing will budge and I use this door so much I need it working everyday. Others have said that the fuel door opener could be the problem, seems to not be.
Future projects are woody-fying the car and a newer, more efficient engine swap (hopefully a much newer motor with a little more power and at least 32mpg)...I know I'm getting too old to waste that much on tickets and the roads are very windy(they wind back and forth) here.
Thank you all for any advice and I'm sorry I don't have a "real" DSM, there are no active forums for my relative-micro-van.

There is a sub-forum for these things on Mitsubishi-Forums.com, but it sees very little activity (mostly me posting my 4g63 conversion ;) )

That door is a major PITA to repair! I am dreading the time when my sliding door brakes :(.

But gas door only stops the sliding door from opening all the way and it should prevent it from starting to open.

Hi .not sure if your 3rd door passenger side slider is still stuck but heres what i did to remedy my exterior broken handle which is not an essy part to find either..mitsu expo ..dodge colt vista wagon also share the same Mechanical aparatus heavily fortefied and a TRUE PITA to access and remove and if ..the chance to remove one ,,.First remove door and place atop a set of sawhorses anyway there is a way to rig a temporary "pull ring on attached wire'' which solves the shut out status and non op of your door. You will use this pull ring latch release (from car interior only) at the closed shut- door position and also at the fully opened position( Latch hold
So to release the latch for the door to be closed).
From inside the car and With a tape ..measure 13 1/2 inchs from absolute edge of 3rd door (edge closest to lock and handle ) and 2 3/4 in. Strait down onto door panel . this spot is where the magic lever is located. This lever is the only part u have to use to operate door. I drilled a tiny hole thru this lever and a small hole in door panel for pass thru of an attached wire with a Steel Pull ring for operation of lock lever and the ring pull keeps the wire from falling back into the panel. Worked for me for 3 years til i bought a truck. Let me know if photos are needed i can e-mail those. Good luck.
