I'd like to find a couple local autox events but it all depends on these mods being done.

Want to thank you for the advice about English Racing, back in 2014. They had my car for 10 months. Kind of hilarious, because Aaron had told me over the phone that with the engine ready to go, they would only need my car down there for a couple weeks. It would have really annoyed me if I hadn't already known this would probably happen.
Basically here's how it went: They got an engine done for me in July of 2015. Then they came to my place in September of 2015 to pick the car up with the gigantic truck. They trucked the car back to me in July of 2016 - so it did bake outside a little too much that June/July.
The car seems pretty good! It's definitely an experience I wouldn't have missed for anything.

@We're on Boost
I was just wondering how your experience went! I am sorry to hear you ran into a similar problem but I am glad to hear you are satisfied with it overall! When I'm done with this round of mods half of the stuff that I had done there will be gone. I will be sad to see the FF stuff go but I am ready to give the car some personal TLC. If I could go back and do it again I would have made some different choices.

Are you going to change some things inside the engine? Or just external stuff?

At the moment only external but that may change depending on how the car responds. There is some question as to what cams are in the head and the car went down hill in driveability the last three or four times I drove it. I have some concerns about the internals but I'm hoping I'm just being overly concerned.

Got a start on the new setup last night. Going to have to do some thinking on the hood latch pins and how best to fit the rad under the upper support but I think it will be doable. Stay tuned!

Yeah it's the 3" FP O2 housing. I'm probably over thinking it on the internals, just stressing over something I have no control over I suppose. It'll be what it is, I'll adjust as needed.

That's interesting about the O2 housing. I called FP just, well, back in November, to ask if they still had any of those, because I don't see them listed on their web site any more. They said at the time that they still have a few of them, and even fewer of the FP30 turbine housings.
Anyway, it's something I kind of follow because there are times when I wish I didn't have an open dump from the wastegate. Just from the standpoint of .... police attraction LOL.

I was surprised they had one when I called as well. The FP30 housing I bought used. I'll be interested to see how the single scroll housing performs compared to the 1.1 I had.

Gotta love some peoples kids man! I don't NEED to sell. I'm happy to entertain any offer but don't come swinging at 1/3 the price, I'm just gunna poke fun at ya!

Wow, I'd have either not even responded or flat out told him to choke on that offer. That's insulting as hell.

Some recent life changes have allowed me to refocus my efforts. We took legal custody of my niece and I won't be looking to sell this car in favor of a newer one. It made more sense to sell my 07 Cummins and buy a 16 Cummins to daily instead and will use it to tow this car to all the autocrossing I can manage to get to. I'm going to start tearing the car down for prep for next seasons autocross. I'm going to flog on her but at least she will get used, after trying to sell her I have realized few people care about these cars and even fewer want to risk it one something that has been so modified and I can respect that. I'll try to dive back in here once things start progressing. The plan is to sell the forward facing turbo setup as a whole, go back to an evo 3 16g and just play with her. Power mods will be put on the back burner in favor of suspension work from here on out.

"2016 Cummins to daily instead and will use it to tow this car"

Now this is what I wish I had. I mean, a good heavy rig to tow a car trailer. My son's Cummins Ram 2500 is a 2016 and it is fantastic, but he lives 1200 miles away now!
I don't mind having to take my car to ER for major stuff now and then. It's getting it there and back that is really painful. And I'll be doing just that in about a week.
As for keeping these DSMs going and in the right hands - I'm all for it. Once I get interested in a car like this and put a lot into it, I have no interest in just selling it off to someone with no proper appreciation for it.

You nailed it. Thats how I had always thought about this car. The decision to sell was a brutal one and I'm hoping this new arrangement will prove to rekindle my interest in toying with this car. With my niece here now my dad and his wife actually moved here to help. He will be helping me with the car and probably co-pilot it at events. I think at this point I just need to beat on the car and find that joy again.

I recently bought this car minus the turbo mani, turbo housing, downpipe, turbo, intake pipe. The plan is to get her running and move from that baseline. So far I have a fp mani, a 16g evo iii, an mhi stamped, ported turbo housing, a decent downpipe. I have a stock radiator and fan set in route. And a fp intake pipe.
Thinking I will need a fmic j pipe and some inter cooling piping to connect it.
The owner of this build thread is a good friend of mine. And I’m hoping to keep the car moving forward with various bolt additions as time goes on. I am super excited and motivated to make this car run at around 400hp with reliability as the most important factor.
I’ve been told that the engine internals all checked out fine, and the jacks tranny is good to go. The car is capable of some huge numbers, my hope is that it being so heavily built, a 400hp goal will both achieved and reliability will be fairly decent. I don’t need a rocket, but it’s nice to know I have a sleeping dragon under the hood

That sounds like a good plan, because around 400 hp is the most you can do without trashing the transmission in short order. And good transmission rebuilds are becoming almost impossible. Reliability is a great thing, if you can have it!
Sounds like rvaughn found a worthy buyer for his car. Very good!

The tranny is a jacks 2.2 hd, I don’t think 400+hp will hurt it very much
