I'm in need of a turbo for my 2.3l stroker engine.

Should i go with a Fp black, Precision 6266 or Hx40?

If i go with a precision what turbine housing should I go with.

Thank you

It will be my daily driver. I drive roughly 30 miles to work and back home. Stop and go traffic on most days. And hopefully get to use it on the track. I ment to post precision 6262 turbo.

HX40.

FP Black will always limit you to what a stock housing will flow, Precision's oiling is fragile and if you damage either of the wheels it will have to go back to Precision ($$)....the HX40 can be adapted to fit to your setup through tons of housings and wheel options which are available anywhere being a production unit- you don't have to buy parts directly from Cummins/Holset.

I've loved my SBR G60-1 (no longer available) on my 2.3L setup, which is very similar size-wise to the HX40. I'm running stock cams and have no problem getting ~20psi by 3400rpm when driving on the street.

throw on a thumper with like a 250 shot of nitrous to get it spooling. perfect for a DD
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
that would be some sick shiit but seriously, how much HP are you looking to make?

I just go my hx40 ill be putting engine soon and my car is a street car, this thing is plenty of power to grow with, and is durable to throw some boost at it, cheap to fix, and Justin is the man at repairing and building them, done.

Nah, not even close.

The G60-1 would be a 59/76mm compressor on a 65/56.5mm turbine in a 7cm2 (.49 a/r) turbine housing. Your typical HX40 is a 60/86mm compressor on a 74/64mm turbine in whatever turbine housing you want to run it in. WAY more turbine flow on the HX40...the G60-1's turbine is significantly smaller than even the HX35 (70/60mm).

The old G60-1 was directly comparable to the 2005-and-older FP Red...even used the same turbine housing. A good turbo in their time, but leaves a lot on the table compared to what's out there today. I could see how such a turbo would be desirable on a stroker, however.

I actually have an old G60-1 here somewhere...forgot I even had it until you just mentioned yours. LOL

Consider me schooled, bought the G60-1 in 2004 and haven't looked at turbos much since then.

I'm looking forward to hearing about the HX40 on the 2.3L! Don't forget that we love pictures around here... :)

im thinking about running an hx40 on my 4g64 build. ive heard nothing but good things about it. The specific one i was looking at is a 67mm billet hx40 with .82ar open t3. From the research ive done it should do 90lb/min and 8's in the quarter which is more than plenty for me.
From the research I've done, 99% of the people that buy a 67mm HX40 should've bought a 60mm instead. If you're not ready for 40+psi and a car that is almost unstreetable because it's too unsafe to drive, then anything in the 67mm range is useless.

Something to keep in mind- just because something "should" perform a certain way on paper doesn't mean it "will" on your car or anyone else's. There's only one HX40-based turbo in the 8's on anything 4G63-powered right now...and I built it almost 6 years ago- so there's been a lot of opportunity to be overtaken, but it still hasn't happened yet.

If you've considered every option there is and still want something that big, the S369SX-E is a far better choice than the HX40. Bigger shaft diameter for unsurpassed durability at high boost, bigger turbine wheel to handle the additional exhaust energy from the 2.4, still available in a T3 housing from Forced Performance. Win/win/win
