Just though I’d share what I have in the works. Getting close to completing the new turbo setup for 2018. Car is a Automatic street/strip grudge race car. Strictly a fun toy, will mostly see streets. No grocery get’n, but lots of local car meets and such.

HX35, 16cm^2 non gated housing, Old Punishment Racing T3 Twin scroll manifold (small runner), twin 44mm WG’s, 4” side exit exhaust. This is a Auto car

The T3 Twin-Scroll Manifold flange has been enlarged to match the foot print of T3 Open. The 16cm exhaust housing port matched as well. The idea is to find the best compromise between spool and top end flow.

This was originally planned to be a HX40 setut. Long term goal being a 9sec car, but found this brand new HX35 for a price I couldnt refuse. The HX35 should take me deep into the 10’s and that’ll be fine for now. Plus I believe it will be more fun on the street where this car will spend most of its time. Who knows maybe I’ll like it so much I keep it for long time to come. We’ll see how it performs. Note: it’ll be cool if it can stall the stock converter (mine is a bit tight), but plan to get a high stall converter anyways.

Don’t have a AWD dyno in the entire state, but I will have 1/8th & 1000ft MPH’s to report. Hope to have her running and fully tuned by the end of the month.

I’ve been very happy with this setup.

You can get the genuine Holset 16cm housing for around $100 search “holset 16cm housing” and it’ll pop right up.

On Launch. I believe I have one of the tighter stock converters. Even so, in 80’ weather... Ive been able to stall the converter to 10psi in 6 seconds, & 14psi barely takes 7seconds. It feels longer than that when ur sitting there waiting to build Boost but logs show its consistently about 7seconds to 14psi at about 3700rpm. This seems to be the best launch for me.

On a roll. If I’m in 1st gear and just roll into I never hit full boost. It’ll reach about 23psi at Redline in 1st, then during mid-shift I get full boost; the moment 2nd hits I’m at 30+psi and it’s at full rocket mode. Now if I’m building Boost on a launch it’s not that way; I can hit full boost in 1st if I start with Boost on the line, OR if I’m brake boosting easily hit full boost in 1st. But when I’m doing nothing but a 0-psi roll, 23psi is about all it’ll give me in 1st. In 2nd & 3rd I can hit full boost even if it’s a simple roll.

WOT in 3rd. When I’m tuning and doing 3rd gear pulls starting around 3500rpm I can hit 30psi at about 5200rpm. That dosent sound all that great but keep in mind it’s a Auto with a huge 16cm housing. I’m also stock internals so what I do to keep torque down is run 26psi till 5200rpm, then I ramp up boost to 35psi @ 6500rpm. 5500=30psi, 6000=32psi, 6500-7000=35psi. This to keep peak torque around 400, then attempting to keep it up and not let it drop off at higher rpm.

Once I hit full boost, shifts don’t drop below 5500rpm, and there is zero drop in boost between shifts; it’s bad ass. Top end power on this setup is nasty too. I’ve got all the DSM HP settings correct, and it’s showing a peak 520whp with 20% drivetrain loss. I don’t like to overinflated numbers, that said I bet the 520number is fairly accurate. Gsc1 cams & running e70. Also keep in mind I have a 4” side exit exhaust thats a pretty strait shot out the side. This may have some affect on the spool aswell.

You are running a stock converter? No restall?

Its a 100% stock trans, and stock stall converter. The ONLY mod is a ForcedFour shiftbox which is needed to give full pressure shifts.

I might add though... car is currently down. Stock flex plate could not handle the power and broke on me. So change ur flexplate to a Kiggly plate if ur over 400.

I have tons of logs and most of the many recent ones are for fine tuning part throttle. I did find one 3rd gear pull, it’s a older one and I was running a little lower boost. I’m hitting my boost target of 24psi by 4900rpm. Shortly after that I begin to raise the boost (you can see my boost solenoid cycle begin to increase; it’s the thin blue line under the thick blue boost line. The solenoid cycle raises right alone the white RPM line.) at the 5500RPM mark I’m hitting 29psi.

At the 4900rpm point you’ll notice that boost stops climbing as fast. It would have held and plateaued at 24psi, except that shortly after that I bring in more boost. If I wanted I could have well above 30psi by around the 5200rpm range but I’m trying to keep power down until after (5200-ish) peak torque. Just a hopeful stratigy in trying to keep a stock motor happier at higher power levels

Well after seeing your log, it gives me great faith in this setup not being too big.
I still think I might do a converter, just so I can grow with it and don't have to pull trans later.

Its cool that it can stall the stock converter but truth be told this setup should have a converter. I don’t want a stock-restall and my 2018 mod-fund$ are about dried up. I’ll get a good converter for it next year
