Oh I know the prices are hilarious on most of these. I was just showing that alot of these nice DSM's are still out there, not beaten to hell and back.

I noticed everything he analyzed was judged against modern car building standards. This a 30 year old car. You can't really rate new and old by the same scale. Tech was still being invented in the 80's/90's.

And there are 3 map buttons for a reason. Always on, always off, and activated when door opens. Thats why there is three buttons. Not a real hard concept to understand. The on/off single push buttons were right in front of him(for the drivers and passengers map lights) and he mocks mitsu for putting 3 buttons.

He should have taken more time to understand the vehicle before going on record being incorrect, all the while talking like he has seen it all.

If he wants quirky weird, he should do a 1991 Subaru XT Alcyone.

I'm the owner of the GSX in Doug's video. He recorded two videos that day in my garage. (The other is of my MR2 Spyder which won't come out for months.) I really enjoyed hanging out with him for a day. He's very humble and down-to-earth. For those who complain he doesn't know all the details, you should understand that he reviews 2-3 cars / week and can't possibly know everything about every car. But I think he's providing the world a service by showing what it's actually like to crawl all over these rare or unique cars.

You, sir, have one gorgeous car. Thanks for sharing it! Hopefully it inspires a new generation of DSM drivers. I was very impressed with all of the factory pieces you still have. E.g. owners manual, sunroof case, blow off valve cover, unbroken center caps.

Thanks! What's a blow off valve cover? I thought a blow off valve was something you added.

In the center is the stock blow off valve. The left is the cover that came on them from the factory. Not many are left.

Here is where it is located in your engine bay.

First, who the eff is this guy? second what qualifications does this person have to review or rate any car? so he's some millenial with a youtube channel that thinks because he has some followers that click on his videos that he is a proffesional on whether a car manufacterer is a joke or not? he seems to be passive aggressive towards the Dsm if you ask me, maybe a little jealous? in any case, hes a bigger toolbag than the one that came with the spare tire in the trunk of that clean stock Dsm. He might be a fun guy to chill with, but in the car enthusiast world hes just another idiot with his narrow opinion on such and such old car vs a new GTR, new Porsche, new...blah blah blah, smh.

I'm surprised people cared enough to watch the video. I literally have no interest in hearing or reading about stock cars. I just could not care less. Does the car have an engine swap? Cool, I'll watch it. Big turbo? Yes. Sick stance?...not interested.

Maybe we can look at the positive: mute the video and it's a high-quality time capsule of what these cars were. In the age of well-cared for DSM's this is something that I find is quite rare.

Doug is only mildly informative. This is his job though, and he doesn't have the time to love them like we do.
Like he plugs in every video, he's a journalist for AutoTrader.

Would be cool to see another video on that 1G with less doug and more DSM.

I was lucky enough to find a bone stock GSX and GST, but I don't think I could ever part with them. Took years of patience to find them. Glad the DSM name is getting more exposure these days...let the resale value go up, up, up!

I don't mind demuro, but his review of a KDM model of a Mitsubishi designed first generation Hyundai equus from the UAE was extremely long winded. He literally didn't have to spend ten minutes going through the audio settings that were all mostly in Korean. At least he doesn't wear board shorts and flip flops everywhere like tarvish.

Says you're in Texas, I have a stock 2g gst he can review, and a bone stock 2000 trans am 6 speed with 72k miles that never gets driven. Ok well 8k miles in 8 years we've owned it. Or a 98 z28 I've modified several times that I've owned for 12 years and 140k miles, though I feel imports are the dying breed and you will always find a Camaro in a barn or under a tree somewhere.

Anyways I don't think he gave it a bad review, it's just a 90's sports car he grades on his independent scale. I mean he's grading it against a viper and r32 gtr afterall

mrvictory1999, nice job for connecting with Doug and letting him test drive your car(s)! I find Doug entertaining and it was fun to see his take on a stock DSM.

I also must admire your willpower to keep that Eclipse stock! We all know that DSMs are decent stock cars, but they are SO MUCH BETTER modified ;). Knowing this, I couldn't possibly keep one sock. :) Do you at least have boost control solenoid restrictor removed? That was usually good for 1-2 psi of extra boost.

I knew I wasn't expecting to learn anything new from Doug, but that is OK, this was interesting review of a DSM by a civilian for civilians. He isn't a DSM expert, so ripping him apart for making minor mistakes is just ridiculous.

It would have been nice to close off this review by comparing it to a 300-400hp, mildly modified DSM and explaining that is takes VERY little to extract that power from 4G63, which is why finding one stock is virtually impossible, but modified cars isn't Doug's thing.

He doesn't like reviewing modified cars because as he put it, "you are reviewing one guy's mods. When you review a stock car, you are reviewing what the original engineers intended." He really wants to do a stock Supra but he hasn't found one anywhere in the nation.

This is why I can't touch my bone stock 1G Talon without regretting it in the future, the price keeps going up every year. The devil on my shoulder says "Go on, get some bolt-ons, lets just do a mild 16g build", and I have to keep pushing him away.

I still feel like I won the lottery, since I bought my 1G for $500. As well as saving this DSM from an unknown future of being parted out and crushed.

So how much do you expect your 1G to appreciate? These aren't vintage Ferrari's, they will never be worth more than around $15k! As such, I would enjoy it! If you really must, keep the stock parts and revert it back to stock...

Sorry, but these cars will never become a collector type stock.. It is not a Supra, AE86, Skyline, NSX, or a 240/260/280z... Sure there are people out there asking for top dollar for DSM's (10-12k) but those are cars of the < 20k miles variety and even then they are overpriced IMHO..

These cars should be driven IMHO and are a great platform to build some fun power on, if I want a collector car I will get a Supra or early Z..

Couldn't agree more. I don't mix my business with pleasure. In other words, I don't worry about the resale value of my hobby cars because I don't have the car to sell it. I would do the exact same thing to this car even if I knew I would get zero out of it when I'm done. These cars are about the experience of driving and hard work to get it running right not putzing around on a Saturday morning going 15 miles under the speed limit in your Dockers. These are violent cars that were meant to be driven. The only time I would ever want a stock DSM is if I want to daily it.

I completely disagree, and that sentiment is why all of the cars you find forsale now are complete garbage. They think they can take a 20 year old car that barely runs and slap a big Chinese turbo on it and make good power.

Ever just want to hop in your car and enjoy driving it anywhere you want with ice cold ac with no squeaks and rattles, or having to worry about where you're driving to, or if you're going to hit a pot hole. Ahhh stock life is relaxing LOL
