Hi all!!! My name is Sadie, I am not entirely a newbie but new to doing the projects myself. I am tired of spending $300 every time something needs fixed. I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse gst. I have already had to have a new transmission, new engine, 16g turbo, cat delete, probably other things too that I can't name off the top of my head. I have a love hate relationship with my car but... I need help.

So my husband took my car to work one day (about a 20 minute drive) made it to work just fine but on the way home it overheated. Had to have my mechanic tow it (the radiator cap was basically glued to the fitting) and found out that my water outlet hose fitting is so pitted that it won't hold any pressure. Since I decided I needed to know how to do a coolant flush on my car anyways I thought I would do this project myself. I have the replacement fitting but it seems that I am in need of an o ring and gasket? Not sure what though. So if anyone has done this and can give me some advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for the links to these threads. They gave me a lot more information on my situation than I thought I needed. It honestly explained my problem with the radiatior cap seal and the fitting being to pitted to create the seal. I now have a better understanding of what happened and why.

How can I tell if I have an aftermarket radiator on my vehicle? If you don't mind my asking.

Make your husband fix the issue, he broke it.. ;).. Welcome to the forum, there is a plethora of information about these cars here, its a GREAT place to gain the proper knowledge..

let me figure out how to post pictures. I have a stock broken 2g radiator also aftermarket oem copy installed now on get, also an aluminum aftermarket. ill get pictures up for u of all 3 so maybe you can identify easy. I know both my dsm's the stocker on both broke at the top hose and the plastic had an off yellow/Brown fiberglass appearance while my replacement is black plastic end tanks. hope I helped I'll get u pics in a bit. Welcome and love hate relationship nails it LOL but hopefully u learn to love more.

sorry for shi# phone pictures. first pic is replacement stock, second is the oem (I noticed numbers molded into the top end tank that aren't on the copy, 3rd is obviously aluminum (mishimoto) which was a turd in my opinion as it leaked and destroyed my talons head gasket, that's why it's now scrap metal. Any questions just hollar

the oem radiator has either a dual core or its just a thicker core than the ones from places like autozone and oreilleys .

this is how thin the piece'o'shit from autozone is
