I just got the car on the ground since the off-season rebuild started. During that rebuild I did an Evo3 LSD with Evo3 inner cups. Loading the car onto the trailer yesterday, and while moving it around the parking lot of the shop to get an alignment, the rearend is acting more like a spool than an LSD. I didn't do any mods to the diff, just took it apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it the way it came apart. 5 plates on one side. 5 plates on the other, with the cones of the springs on the end pointed towards the center of the diff. I used Mitsubishi LSD oil. Anyone ever come across this? I have a 4 spider center diff just so it's not thought it's welded or broken. Thanks in advance for any info.

So its chirping the inner tires when turning?

I know the chirping is kinda expected to a degree, but this is like the whole back of the car is hopping. Almost like a wheel is loose. It's insane. This is a track only car, and if it IS locked like a 2 way or a spool, corner entry from 130+ is going to be extremely interesting.

Try some friction modifier, see if it changes it? My S2000 has exhibited similar behavior, eventually the Cusco diff locked up pretty much solid. My Evo 1 spins the inside rear at slow speeds on dusty surfaces, but it isn't violent by any means.

I have the Mitsubishi LSD oil in there. Shouldn't need any friction modifier I wouldn't think. And I can only imagine with heat it's only gonna get worse. Maybe when I put it together one of the springs shifted?

I hope you figure this issue out. Keep us updated as I am ready to install mine as the weather gets better and will be going thru this. So information will be gladly apriciated.

I have my first race of the season this weekend, so it's gonna be interesting. It may get snowed out though. Which would actually be nice so we would have time to get the rear apart and figured out.

I would think that the DiaQueen is fine for using. I'm more concerned about either something being disassembled wrong, or a brake dragging.

I have Evo brembos with manual brakes and a manual rear bias knob. I don't THINK it could be a brake. When we had it on the lift for the alignment, we put it up on the Jack's and the wheels were turning easy, all four in the same direction. And there was a little movement before it started turning the opposite wheel. As for disassembly, it's pretty straight forward. I kept all the plate stacks together from their original sides. I didn't mix and match them at all. And the end springs went back in the same direction they came out. It's very curious.

I had an Evo LSD put into my non LSD and it was pretty rough to start with. I broke it in just like TRE said and after about 800 miles it is better. Within the first 100 miles or so I was doing mostly figure 8s and during those it was bad. At one point I though I left something loose or something broke on the inside tire too. I am also using Diaqueen as that is what TRE suggested with the Mitsu LSD. It might just need some more break in time to allow a little more slip. It is definitely a great upgrade though.

Ok great. The car is track only now, so early Saturday morning at the track, I'll do some figure 8's in the paddock. Thanks for the input!

No problem. I would be ready for the back to kick out if you had an open diff before like I did. I had TRE do the max lock upgrade to mine as well, so it probably a little tighter, and it is more than happy to power oversteer. Good luck at your event

Thanks! Yeah everyone says it's a pretty drastic change. I had the stock VCLSD forever, but I'm pretty sure it was cooked. Hopefully, with the slicks, it'll be controlable.

I have had mine for several years, this is common. I am running a bit more aggressive fluid, Redline 75w140ns with 4oz redline LSD additive. Standard clutch pack, plates flipped. Mine is especially loud when it's cold, after some heat in it, it normally quiets down. Another good lsd oil I recommend is KAAZ LSD gear oil, works great and is less chatter.

Yeah I've noticed once it heats up it's seems ok. Thanks for the input and experience with it.
