Hey there folks and fellow 'Tuners

Going to be adding to this occasionally to get everyone caught up to speed.
Ten years of History/pictures to go through and collect, so I want to be thorough in capturing the journey for this, bear with me.

Lets take it back to August of '08, or, for one second April of '08.
At this time I was driving around my 1992 Mazda Mx-3, 1.8 liters of Yamaha designed V6 FURY, it was a GS so it had the manual transmission to back it up, and it also had the propensity to "forget" to oil cylinder 6, so it wasnt friendly when it came to overheating a rod and sending it out of the block one April day. See pictures below. Shortly after that I began hunting for a car to drive, with no clue of what I was going to end up with. One day my brother and I passed through a consignment lot and saw this wonderful 97 Eagle Talon sitting there, it was in the middle of the lot and illuminated the entire lot with if bright Pearl paint job. We wondered over to check it out and immediately scoffed when the consignment lot was asking $8.5k for a 224k mile car, so we went our separate ways and never really thought about it again.

Fast forward back to August, at this point I had replaced the engine in the Mx-3, so I was driving it around and happened to pass through the center of the town I lived in, and low and behold I saw that "Bright Jade" Talon again. This time it was on an open corner lot and had a for sale sign on it. My interest was immediately piqued and I went to look at it once again. This time it was for sale by the owner and he was asking $3.5k for it, I was invested mentally at this point. I didn't really dig the color, but the car was in such great shape for the mileage I couldn't just look the other way. Being broke at the time didn't help things but after some very firm nudging by my little brother I was convinced to contact the owner and see about his sale terms/take the car for a drive.

I called him and met with him, he told me how the car had nothing but highway miles from his commute, and that he ordered the car in that specific color and had to wait months for it. He was the original owner! We took it for a spin and I was sold, my broke ass had to have this car. At the end of the test drive I told him about my place in life and we came to an agreement, he would keep the car/title/keys until I paid him the balance of $3500. It was at this point I agreed to sell everything I owned and make it my mission to purchase this car. The MX-3 went bye bye, along with the other spare motor I had purchased for it. I sold all my skateboard stuff, even got rid of some shoes i had, was literally selling the clothes off my back to make this happen. I had made several payments at this point and was up to $2500 paid off, with another $400 payment in hand. So I called the seller and let him know I was going to be making a deposit again, it was at this point he told me to meet him at the car near his office and that we would finalize the deal there. Huh? Ok then.

When we met at the car he told me that he and his wife had discussed it and that god had spoke to them, told them through some manner that I had struggled to gather the money and at this point i had earned the car for a lesser price, this guy knocked $600 off the price! Thank the lord, literally! haha. At the end of the day I paid $2900 and still had some of my belongings left, ROFL. See below pictures for Virgin DSM example.

I will be slowly assembling this build thread, cant wait to share this cars adventures with the 'Tuner world!

Correct

Love the color on that Talon

Thank you, it took me a while to be able to appreciate it, but now I wouldnt have it any other way.

First things first, the car needed rear tires. Fronts were brand new and this guy was driving around on worn to piss tires in the rear. OMG Picked up some Hankooks and the car was sorted well enough to drive around for quite some time, and drive I did. :rocks:

Somewhere in the mix of things I also did the fist actual mod, powdercoated the Enkei RP01 wheels in a gold vein color/texture. At this time I was working in Salt Lake City, Utah and was enjoying the local scenery, as the below pics will illustrate. Me and a group of Utah DSM'ers cruised up into the Oquirrh mountains (rally style) and met some late season snowmelt around 11k feet. :hellyeah:

With the wheels powdercoated and the car looking okay for now, it was time to get started with "power" mods. Mind you, all this time I was still driving the car all around the country. And racing it!

At some point or another, I decided the car needed more power and to look "Fancy" under the hood, so I gathered this pile of parts, as any new and un-educated DSM'er would do.

Darkstar Performance T3 manifold, and Turbonetics T78, modified with an elbow to be a downfiring turbo aimed at the driver's side.

Before I installed any of that, I made sure to prepare for cooling the air, while on a budget, and picked up the Punishment Racing Budget FMIC kit. This was my first official power mod, haha. Looking back at it now, Im pretty certain it has caused my cooling issues for all these years. Its on the list to replace it with an ETS Short route, or Bell custom core.

And my second, and still one of my favorite power mods, ECMLink V3 Full. For some reason, I cant find the picture of that goodie, but most of you know what it looks like.
