I recently got a aem ems-4 standalone computer and a universal wiring harness. I have a million questions about installing it properly and I can't seem to find any info on it when I try to search it. One of my big questions is about wiring in the coils. The instructions say "falling edge fire (do not connect directly to coil primary). What am I supposed to do here?

I hate to be "that guy". But if you have to ask this many questions, you're at least going to need someone there with you. There's also the option of getting a PnP harness if the budget allows.

I wish I had someone here to help. I am a mechanic but there are a lot of things I am still learning. I am very seriously considering trying to return the universal harness and getting the pnp. I was hoping to use this as a learning experience but there are so many things I don't seem to understand. If it was as simple as just rewiring things I would be fine but I just don't understand certain things. Part of why I was hoping there was some help on here.

Do not connect to coil primary means you need to use an igniter or ptu.

The better question is why you feel you need standalone if you dont even have the answers to these fairly straight forward answers? if you think that this part of a standalone is hard wait until you have to actually set it up and make the car run decent with it, at standalone levels support isnt going to come easy because most people running it are far beyond needing input from others and or they are more secretive about their setups.

Update on this post. I decided to return the universal harness and instead ordered the plug and play harness. I have yet to get the aem EMS-4 up and running in the car. haven't been able to get any of our computers to link up with the standalon .
