Was wondering how I get the back timing belt cover off? Do I have to take the cam gears off + plus the pulleys or do I just take the head cover off and slip the camshafts through the back timing belt cover. Never really been this deep in a car before so I'm literally stumped and don't want to mess anything up

Why exactly do you need to get the back cover off? You can take the cam gears off but chances are it is going to suck without an impact or something to hold them in place because they will want to spin.

I got a impact but I'm trying to get the head off to get to the valves so to me I'm thinking the cover is in the way of some bolts but idk for sure. And I just thought of another step in the path, how will I now if I'm putting it back on right I don't want to have my timing all messed up for taking the gear off and not know exactly to put it back on. I'm kinda overreacting but I literally got everything off but the head
 
Just slip the timing belt off the cams and pop the valve cover off. The cams have to come out to get to the head bolts anyway. That is the way I have done it in the past. Timing is not difficult I always just had another hand there.

There is a way that I have done it in the past without touching timing but that involves making a tool and all a lot of bs, it's really not worth it.

Also there are 2 brackets on the back side of the head that are always a blast to take off (I think there are 2) so don't reef on it trying to get it apart with the head bolts out because chances are they are what is holding you back.

So basically slip the cams through the timing cover once I get them out the head? Thanks for the heads up on the brackets I got a service manual but they don't go into full depth but the diagrams help
 
With the motor mount off on the passenger side you still can't really jack up the motor to fish the cams through. There are 2 options.
1. Get the front and rear mounts lose and jack up the oil pan with a piece of wood. The motor might move enough to get the cams to clear and they should come out (I think, I could be wrong)

2. Unbolt the small blots that hold the cover the the head and block. Some of the timing components would need to come off too. Then when all of the cam caps are off, the cover can be lifted out easily with the cams.

Then what is have seen people do is cut the top of the covers off to show the entire cam so in the future they can remove the head faster.

Perfect I didn't even realize the clearance for that wow, Ima go with option 2 and let y'all know the results. Might make a DIY guide since I can't really find one anywhere and this a interference engine so might come in handy for others

Ended up getting the back timing cover off pulling the cams that way. So far got the head off and next step is the valves, hopefully I didn't mess that much stuff up and get to see this baby run
